I recently bought a droid 2 and I've been looking at docking stations and some specifically state that they're multimedia stations and some just say docking. I'm looking at a couple but I don't wanna buy one then find out its not what i wanted. Any help or recommendations are appreciated.

PS How awesome is swype? Lol

Welcome to the forum! Not sure i know the answer to your question, but i wanted to welcome you and agree on Swype... best thing ever:D

Sounds like a docking station is simply for charging your phone. And a multimedia must have connection to connect to your stereo, maybe even has speakers right on it.
But i am not positive on this, since I've never had one of these.

Multimedia stations just plug into the charging port. The only thing that makes it behave in anyway multimedia-y is there's a magnet in it that the Droid 2 senses and launches a Dock Home app. It's not very useful but it does give you a nice big clock display and options to put in a different set of shortcuts.

So multimedia stations are just chargers that unlock some functionality already in your phone. There's no audio/video out or speakers or anything.
