X vs Fascinate for streaming

Hello,

I am looking to replace my BB curve soon and have been debating for weeks on the Incredible, Droid X, and now the Fascinate.

One concern of mine is the ability to stream live video (flash) from sites like atdhe.

I watch a lot of hockey and the ability to stream from a site like that would be excellent. I have been hearing mixed stuff about the video quality streaming wise from the X, and I know the Fascinate has the better GPU, so do you think that would make it the better option for streaming flash video (when it gets 2.2)?

Theoretically, yes. The Fascinate is getting much better framerate benchmarks than the X and it's still on 2.1
Interesting.

Here is my dillema. I have a coupon for $50 off smartphones that ends Sept 30th, so I have to act quick.

I was thinking of getting the X, then hopefully VZW will release Froyo on the Fascinate before my 30 days are up, so I have the chance to check out flash video on the Fascinate and maybe switch. Im just not sure what to do.

I thik they still have a 2 week backorder delay on the Droid X.. if you order one today, you won't have it till mid October anway.
Last week the backorder for the Droid X was down to two days, now it seems there is no backorder, Motorola Droid X Back in Stock on Verizon Site | Android Phone Fans and Set Your Location. On the other hand, when the Fascinate will get Froyo and real Flash seems unknown and from what has been posted in the Fascinate forum, apparently perhaps a November/December time period.

Streaming is often going to as much a factor of coverage and reception as it is of the device. It doesn't matter how fast the GPU is if the information isn't getting there fast enough for that to matter.

When I went to the VZ store I ran quadrant on the Fascinate 3 times in a row and it faile dot break 900 points while my DX ranges from 1350 to over 1500. The Fascinate seemed really slow too. I did kill all processes witht he advanced task cleaner 2.0 first. I was not impressed with the fascinate like I though I would be. I was considering switching until I saw it (Still within my 30 days).

There is an issue with all of the Galaxy S phones with the file system that will (supposedly) be fixed in a future update. This causes lag and generally slows the phone down.

If you are brave, you can do some fidgeting with the phone, and fix the file system issue, which about triples the Quadrant score, for whatever that is worth.

I had the phone for a little while, and it is pretty zippy (at least as fast as the droid x, if not faster), but the battery life killed it. Turns out Super AMOLED is kind of a battery hog. The rest of the internals seemed to sip enengry, but about 5-6 hours of the screen being on for whatever reason killed it.

a score of 2700 would indeed seem like a worthwhile upgrade, however battery life is important to me.

Hmm.

I heard the screen was what used very little battery.

the screen is the single biggest user of power of almost any phone. the problem with AMOLED is, yes it's supposed to use less battery power, but it turns out it uses more when displaying white and most every web page has a white background.

Id get the Droid X. HDMI, has a much much nicer dock then the fascinate, Bigger screen, WAY better battery life, and AMAZING noise canceling with the 3 mics.

Honestly quadrant scores don't mean much for real world everyday use.

Also for the OP, if you are coming from a Blackberry, the droid X has a notification LED and the fascinate doesn't. small thing but i couldn't live without my led.

im trying atdhe.net on my droid x right now and i cant even see how good the stream is because this god damn 'complete a 30 sec test to see if youre human' thing wont go away. i mean seriously wtf why would bots want to watch spongebob anyway what a scam

edit: alright so i somehow got past that screen. it plays commercials fine but then when it goes to the stream the sound is perfect but there sno video

edit 2: alright so now im watching that nick sitcom with the mexican guys and the sound is way off sync from the video

edit 3: so now im watching some dumb star trek reruns on spike. this looks to be perfectly streaming. i guess the trick to watching this stuff on the droid x is to click one of the 30 sec test ads, then close out of the ad window, then reopen the channel and wait for the show to load before you maximize. word up thanks for the tv site my man this owns

edit 4: also disney chnnel looks to be running perfectly also. that selena gomez girl is bangin

Yea this is a nice site. I used it last weekend to watch some college football in a room that had no cable.

Yea this is true. It my job I wouldnt even be able to even try that site cuz its a bad reception area.

Yea atdhe is the best. I have an iPhone 4 too, but I use the Verizon account for work. I used to stream the site from my netbook through my JB iPhone while at work, but to be able to do it from the phone would just be amazing.

I was just mainly curious as to wether or not the GPU would produce better streaming results, or if it was mostly due to the qualiyty of service.

I was watching ESPN live from atdhe in the VZW store yesterday, and it was perfect.

X comes tomorrow. :D
