I live in Delaware now...the best state
Now THAT is funny... ROTFL...

Obviously you have never been to Texas.. :)

I have both the MotoDroid AND the Eris... The Eris is a nice device, but the overall capabilities of the MotoDroid make it my FAVORED one.. but, I understand each person has their preferences..

Having said that, TEXAS is still the best state..

I really don't give a crap about 2.0, just give me the patches for the current problems:mad::mad::mad:

2.0 fixes a lot of the current problems. It's not just a feature update.

It fixes the cluttered Android Market, integrates the camera, camcorder, and gallery interface, makes voice search faster and more integrated. It allows searching bookmarks, history contacts and the web faster with fewer clicks. Adds several speed improvements. It updates the browser to support more sites and specs (HTML5), improves the virtual keyboard and updates Bluetooth.

If we want patches for the current problems ... Android 2.0.X is hopefully exactly what we should want. :)

Not true. The Droid will always stay one step of the Eris in terms of OS. You don't spend $100 million advertising a product and allow another device to step ahead of it.

Verizon spent that money, not HTC who is working on the Sense UI for 2.0. HTC doesn't care where motorola is, they have no binding that says they can't update their UI to the current OS, your theory is ok but I believe HTC will upgrade to 2.0+ no matter where the Motorola Droid is.

I'm no expert, but i bet Verizon has a say in the matter - not just HTC and Motorola. But exactly WHAT they say is way above my pay grade.

Born in the U.K. live in Illinois, and may move to Texas. None of that matters, because all i want is the Update to take place. At least that way a great little phone will be better. Then we can all bitch and moan about when we are going to see a 2.0 update.

Born in Illinois, live in Texas! I got to Texas as soon as I could. (age 13) I want my update so I can prove to hubby Eris is still better than Droid! And as a woman, I never bitch and moan! LMAO!! Yeah right!

HTC can build it, but Verizon has to push it out to us. Unless we figure out how to root the Eris...

if verizon doesn't want to push it then HTC can always change to push over wifi and go over verizons head. it doesn't have to be pushed over verizons network it's just nice to do it that way.
But why would HTC piss off such a lucrative and powerful carrier? If VZW wants to hold back on the Eris update, I seriously doubt HTC would do anything about it. If they did want to retaliate, I imagine some kind of legal action against vzw for hurting their sales would be in order first.

Have we considered that Sense 2.1 just isn't ready yet and Verizon has not and will not delay its delivery in any way? Now if the Hero gets it and Eris doesn't, THEN we can be pissed.

The latest HTC tweet: Believe it or not, I STILL can't say anything more about Eclair coming to Hero. Working as fast as we can, promise! about 2 hours ago from CoTweet

They have already said a few tweets ago "Droid Eris is getting an update to a newer version of Android early next year. Google Navigation support is coming your way ;)" Not worried a bit. I think it's all fairly benign on the part of both Verizon and HTC.

I think that it has been discussed elsewhere on the forum and the in the media that the general thought about the delay on the updates is Sense UI

I really don't see Verizon holding the Eris back. They benefit on the contract side whether you get the Droid or the Eris. They make almost the same amount of money other than the fairly minimal subsidy over the course of the two year contract.

And they did brand the Eris as a Droid phone to benefit from the Moto Droid's advertising push.

I agree with you...but HTC is not so small themselves, and want profit of sales as well ;)

problem i think is people forget when you bought the eris you bought sense ui. this is totally different from plain jane android which the moto droid has all they have to do is goto the google source page and take watever they need. just slapping 2.0 under the hood sense can break alot of things. what we are getting is a hybrid version of 2.0 that is customized to work seamless with sense plus HTC always likes to throw a nice nugget into thier builds that when we see it we think why'd they do that then later on we go ohhhhh that's why. so relax it's comming let those droid owners have first dibbs at the table. cause when htc brings us our dinner we're getting steak. lol!
