I got the message on my phone that there is an update. I tried installing it but it wouldn't let me. I tried the manual way and everytime it goes to install it tells me installation aborted. Any ideas?

I should also mention that when I click recovery after hitting power+volume down it goes to an android guy with an exclamation point.

Can someone help me to? I got the OTA message and I went install it and like 5 seconds later I get the android guy with a exclamation point. I waited a good 30 minutes or so and it didnt change. So I took out the battery and powered it back up. Now I go to try to get teh OTA again and it says my system is up to date, but its still on 2.2. Can I get the OTA update again?

It's power + plus volume up!

So click on recovery, the android guy with exclamation point comes. Then hit Power button first and then volume up next.

hmm... well the ota isn't going anywhere I don't think.

click on system updates under, about phone.

or if that doesn't work..

goto dial pad.. then punch in: *#*#2432546#*#* that forces your nexus one to check in with the google server. If the ota is there.. it should download again.

I did that and click install update.zip and it attempts to install and then at the end aborts. I am pretty sure this had to do with the one click root which I now regret doing.

My error looks like this:

--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

Try doing the dialer check-in, then reboot the phone. It worked for me. As soon as my N1 booted up, I got the notification to update. If that doesn't work, it might also help to restore the phone to factory settings. It's a pain in the ass to re-download all your apps but that worked for me when I did the OTA update for FRF91. Manually updating is probably the fastest way to get the 2.2.1 update but it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside to know that I got the OTA update straight from Google.

Dailer didnt work for me, so Im gonna try a factory reset... I will let you know if it works.

EDIT: I got the update from google again after the reset.. but it still stopped the install about half way through and I got the triangle with the exclamation point. What cant I install this update!?
