Help Notification of some sort for texts

Is there any way to get a notification of a missed text/call/etc? Like maybe an occasional flash of the screen?

I often keep my phone on silent so I don't always notice texts. My old phone had the LED light to notify me, and before that I had an iPhone which would flash the display with a notice about the missed text/call.

I'm aware of NoLED, but I tried it and wasn't a fan, the icons are annoying. Plus it seems like it would take up battery.

noLED does the same thing that you are looking for though when it comes to the battery life, so another option won't really get you better battery life. Plus you can time out the icons on noLED. There has been a couple updates lately that have made it a lot better IMO.

As far as I know, noLED is your only option at this point in time.

A free app called SMS Popup is great, has a quick reply, and you can set it to re-alert you 3 times by lighting up the screen. There are a couple in market with same name - its the one with the envelope and a yellow exclamation point

well for me. I use my phone as a pager and needed an audio alert for missed SMS. I believe you can also set the screen to pop on when the alert sounds so will give a visual cue as well. If you decide to use this, be sure to disable the notifications in your stock messaging program so you don't get double alerts

The Super AMOLED screen on the Fascinate uses very little power to display blacks so NoLED really isn't going to hog the battery. As for Handcent, it's a must have for anyone who wants a fully customizable messaging experience. It gives you the option to sound reminds every so often and also pops up a quick reply box where you can reply without unlocking your phone.
