i hate to say this but due to the fantastic quality of the ipad, and weather you like apple or not, the ipad is sublime, most importantly everything works, as it should for the price, yes you are ristricted to apple's way of life, but honestly thats not such a bad thing, the apps market is ridiculasy(is that even a word? suppose so if it was spelt right) filled with quality apps, the games are fantastic, the music apps work and sound fantastic,re-birth, aragon, theriminator, nlog to name but only a few are flawless, the screen is as responsive as you'd exspect,A1, and the accellerometers cannot be matched, at the momment any rate, the ipad isnt a joke, rather more the benchmark, sorry 'an all...:(;):D

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the biggest problem with Apple these days is it's chief executive Mr. Jobs really needs some customer relations training... and better email skills.

i don't know/care much about jobs, i'm relating to the ipad as a physical thing, it's uses and quality of craftsmanship, not into religious discussions on jobs, i think anyone at the top of any large corp is going to be a ar$e, it's how they got there.:D

Different people... different perspectives!

I know that my personal read on Jobs is that his arrogant behavior and attitude makes we want to NOT support him or his company. People take pot shots all day long at Bill Gates but the man's foundation gave billions of dollars in grants and charitable donations last year. What does Jobs give to the community? I mean other than one word responses and sarcasm.

Ditto on Apple, you can not seperate a CEO from a product as HIS views and opinions will DIRECTLY translate into product support and ability.

I have come to understand the place that apple products have in sme folks lives and I dont fight it

but I also wont become a part of it.

I've been working on PC's since BEFORE the IBM PC. and even AFTER DOS 1.0 I used a Coleco Adam for 6 years because it had 100% support by its community. something that DOS and PC's (of that era) would never have with their $2000 price tag

You got me beat! Earliest version of DOS I worked with was DOS 2.0...

As for Mr. Jobs I speak with my wallet. I just replaced a temperamental iPod Touch (generation 1) with a used iPod Nano (generation 5). I may use some of their products but I'm unwilling to buy them from Apple or it's representatives.

And once the new generation of Android tablets, HP WebOs tablets, and Blackberry tablets starts hitting the market I suspect we'll see lots of viable alternatives to the iPad.
