Hi all

Even though I am on 2.2 and alot of my apps have bee moved to SD, I still only have 12% left.

my most recent downloads havent helped as they cannot be moved; a few icon packs, folder organizer, android agenda widget and astrid, still, before this, I was still only on 20%

Are apps fully moved with the move to SD option in 2.2?

How much is 12%? I've got 27.47MB left on mine if that gives you something to compare against. If you go to Manage Applications you can see what's on the phone storage and what's on the SD card.

It's worth noting that you don't have to keep the icon packs permanently in order to use the icons. Once you have decided which ones you want to use and set them using FolderOrganizer you can then uninstall the icon packs. FolderOrganizer will still save the icon data you have set.

Thats good to know :) I dont like the icons in the pack that much, could do with an alternative anyway

There is no method to move everything of an app. In order of greatness:

1. Froyo - moves some apps
2. Mod install location mentioned above - moves all user apps
3. Root a2SD+ - moves all user apps and dalvik cache

Even with 3 some of the app remains.

Thanks for the clarification, mate.

It amazes me how the devices manages to do the above - eg. moving some of the app and leaving other parts of it, without leaving any clutter - or does it leave clutter?

I don't think so. The entire app is within the .apk, The dalvik cache is almost like the windows registry. Then there is app data which, I'm not entire sure where it goes... ;)
I've noticed a lot of apps leave stuff behind on my SD card, even after being uninstalled. I often find files named after software I've removed in cryptically named folders.

This makes me wonder if apps leave things in the internal memory too. I have tried Applications in Settings, Astro, Advanced Task Manager and a couple of others I forget the name of and I'm not convinced any of them cleanly remove everything when using the Uninstall feature.

Some apps (app widgets in particular), such as Android Agenda Widget, will not work properly if you move them to SD. After a reboot or when you mount the SD Card they may show the "problem loading widget" error. That is why some dev's choose not to allow moving to SD.

I'm surprised they don't give more phone memory to stop this being a problem...

Regarding app data (databases, preferences, cache etc) it is stored in /data/data on your phone under the application package name (e.g. /data/data/com.roflharrison.agenda).

When you uninstall the app this folder is removed.

For anybody who is interested, I managed to free up 20MB of internal storage last night by clearing the data from the official Facebook and Twitter apps.

I had to re-enter my log-in details on the Facebook app, and tweak the settings back to my personal preference, but it seems to be working fine.

I remained logged in to the Twitter app but it no longer auto-refreshed at the set interval. I managed to solve this by uninstalling and re-installing the app. However, I needed to reboot the phone in order to get the tick to remain in the tick box for "sync Twitter data".

That sounds a good idea. I hardly use it
