So what would you guys do at this point? The FROYO update f'd up the phone to the point I missed an email from my bank about a home loan closing. Yes I could have just checked my email from home but I had no clue the email app wasnt functioning. The email was sent yesterday and I received it this morning! None of the google apps work (shame since it is their OS). I have the option to return the phone under warranty but I may just ask for a Droid 2. I already got a call from VZW about my return options. I would like to say waiting for another fix is the way to go but this phone has been crap since launch.
 
Tough call. However, I will say I don't think that getting a different phone is going to solve the issue. Every phone I have had has lost network/sync connection at some point in its lifetime either for a brief amount of time or until i realized I wasn't getting emails and had to reboot. It sucks that it happened at such a bad time for you, but nothing is perfect. If it happens regularly then you may want to consider returning it until the bugs are ironed out, or like you said, get a different phone.

There is no fix coming, since there is nothing wrong with froyo or the google apps. I recommend you do a factory reset. If you used a leaked version, that is the cause of your problems. But since you say it has been crap since launch, whatever that means, perhaps yours is defective and an exchange is needed. But again, that depends on what you mean by crap since launch, since this phone is not in fact crap.

Couldn't agree more.
Despite a few minor gripes, this may be perhaps the best phone out there. Some may prefer a feature hear or there, but overall it's a close call.

Mine has worked flawlessly from launch day, and flawlessly after the Froyo upgrade.

I wonder what you refer to when you say this phone has been crap?

By crap I mean the phone has not been up to par at all. Either I got the only defective DX or something else is wrong (software). I have had battery issues since launch before I even added apps. So VZW replaced the battery and it still has issues. I have done 2 factory resets before FROYO and one yesterday (that resulted in the gmail failure). What really pisses me off is that this is Googles failure, this is their OS after all and their apps should have been ready to go at FROYO launch (Gmail, Google Voice, Google Listen neither work). Now I know some of you have had great results and I understand that. BUT, we pay $200+ for these phones, factory resets and battery pulls shouldnt be part of the deal. My main concern is what if the next DX is crap?

I just got off the phone with a VZW tech support agent and was told that there is a fix coming. My phone freezes up and I have to do a battery pull to get it to work again happened 6 times today. She said she wouldn't send me a new phone because the update was bad and the new phone would have issue also. She said MOTO was aware of the problems and we could expect and second update to come out and fix the problems.

Don't accept that from Verizon. Tell them to send you a replacement. Its easy for people to tell you "duh...the update was great! There's no problems", meanwhile your phone is crashing. Ignore them. You must don't depend on your phone like I do if you're gonna wait for an imaginary fix?!

After 2 phones and no fix for the freezing and rebooting and signal loss I returned mine and now have the Samgsung Facinate and wow much better device than the X good luck!

Yeah I wasnt about to listen to some "update fix" coming soon BS. I had to get smart with the lady just to get her to understand me. I got bounced around to 3 different operators and neither knew crap about what the one before had said. Funny thing is the lady said she had worked for VZW for 13 yrs blah blah blah. GIVE ME MY F'n replacement and quit asking 500 useless questions lol. I was told if the problems continue that a different handset could be an option but I doubt I will believe that. Those of you having great results with FROYO I am happy for ya and envy your phones!

I do not see how it is having the same problem between two phones.

Sounds like a google voice configuration problem.

So far so good on the refurb! FROYO was pushed to the phone and when I woke up this morning everything was running smoothly. I have yet to test Google Listen but I will assume its all good. The last time, I updated manually and that is when things went to poop. The screen still rotates unexpectedly but nothing I cant deal with. I am anxious to test the battery life, 3G and WIFI, I will let time tell.

I feel your pain. My X will not sync w/ gmail anymore, but yahoo will :(
Wifi will connect w/ home network, but I can't surf the net get emails or download apps (basically nothing is really connected). After working on gmail w/ vz and moto reps w/ no luck, and searching all forums, I am thinking of returning mine as well. Just can't decide if I should bail on the X for a Fascinate.
