There has been a bit of a surge in articles, stories, books and TV coverage on cellphone radiation recently.

I recently purchased my very first cellphone about a month ago.
I held out for many different reasons, one of which was the effects of cellphone radiation.

I am a rare cellphone user indeed. In keeping with my reluctance to buy a cellphone all these years, I keep my cell in 'flight mode' 99+% of the time.

Why did I buy it then?
I will use it basically as a PDA, camera, occasional Wifi use and emergency phone use.

I am curious to hear from all the users here about your sensitivity or lack of sensitivity to cellphone radiation.

Of course a lot will depend on your overall sensitivity as a person and the specific model phone you're using (as each model has a different SAR rating).

I'll keep the poll really simple for now.

TIA

Hmm, everytime I turn my cell phone I do feel a sensation. An overwhelming power envelopes me in a maelstrom that is completely and utterly unavoidable, even with airplane mode. After turned on I feel an extreme urge, to browse the market, buy up apps, rate and place comments like a mad man! Me and other Nexus One owners believe this is the original intent of Google developing their cell phone. Save yourself before Google takes control of us, AND THE WORLD!!!

Seriously, uneducated nonsense is so annoying. So many things emit radiation. I'd suggest reading more on the subject before you embarrase yourself any more.

BTW, I do feel really cool when I turn on my cell phone. The start up screen is neato!

i'd suggest you read more too, particularly your own posts. That way you would save yourself the embarrassment of misspelling 'embarrass'. :)

they say to use a bluetooth if you are worried about it....

Did you read what Palmetto Fellow stated above?

"I don't feel it that much from my cell, but I can't wear BlueTooth headsets. I have returned 3 of them over the past 5 years now.

After 10 minutes of use, I have to switch sides with them. Not sure how to describe the sensation I get."

yes, i did. i also realize that he is just one person.
and on top of that, i can recognize that a cell phone must have the strength to communicate with a tower and a bluetooth only has the strength to communicate 30 ft. or so.

now which one would you rather hold by your head?

You make some valid points here.
Re: Bluetooth vs. the phone itself, sure I would agree with you that the phone is likely to emit much stronger signals than a bluetooth headset.
I've never used bluetooth headsets so I can't comment on any effect they may have on me.

Re: the fact that Palmetto Fellow is just one person.
Yes and he is likely part of a very small percentage of the population who can feel these effects.

The fact that we are so small a part of the population does not mean that we should be treated with disrespect or ridicule.
It's good to have an open mind.

When I posted the two polls (I was intending one poll with just two questions, but wasn't allowed to do this)
I was fully expecting the results that we are now seeing.
In fact I hope more people will take part in it to see just how small a part of the population we actually are. My intuition tells me less than 1% of the population.

i understand. if it presents an issue for you or is of concern you should be able to voice and discuss that situation as and with adults.
sadly, that is not always the case.

if you are interested in continuing using a cell phone my opinion would be to give a bluetooth a try and see if it effects you personally.
with, of course, doing some research on its possible effects first.

(obviously im no doctor or scientist; just simply a recommendation i once heard for those with the same concerns for comfort/health).

Thanks, I will be trying a set out later on (I'll be quite busy for the next month or so though) to see how they work out.
How would they (bluetooth) differ from a regular set of headphones that you plug in?

basically the abillity to be cordless along with the ability to not only not have the handset (phone) right next to your head but also keep it away from your body.

instead of being a cords distance from the phone (it ending up in your pocket);
with bluetooth you could set it on your desk or leave it on the dash or whatever and just awnser it when your bluetooth beeps at you.
or even leave the bluetooth in a shirt pocket and put it on and awnser it when the phone rings.

i used one when i drove a semi over the road. the phone never came off the dash.
the phone would ring, id grab my bluetooth off the visor, put it on and answer it from the bluetooth. allowing me to be hands free.

the only thing i can say is that they make really cheap ones and if you get one id research a quality one and get it.

Thanks Faber, I'll look into a bluetooth headset in the coming months when I have more time available. I appreciate the tips.
