Did anyone else get their fall 2010 100% you magizine?

On page 4 their is a claim that "T-mobile has recently fine-tuned and upgraded the myTouch 3G Slide camera software, bumping up the color saturation and contrast so that photos are crisper and clearer than ever".

Am I missing something?

I got that update and my pix still look like s#%t.

Hmm, I didn't remember pictures before the update but I know its always 50/50 on my photos. Different places and who takes the picture really effects it. Example...

First picture snapped by friend.

http://i56.tinypic.com/6fnlz4.jpg

Second picture snapped by me 30 seconds later.

I think the second picture came out awesome. Don't mind the corniness, lol but yeah I took around 100 pictures and I got probably 40 in the quality of the second one and 60 in the first picture quality. I always take 3 pictures because of that reason.

I'm debating going to the pawn shop my buddy works in to trade for a vibrant.

*and this is my second slide that has had an issue when I receive or make calls. Get a force close, reboot, gone for a bit. Called today and got the rep that assumed I had no knowledge of android phones. Hard reset he says! We'll see what his hard reset does. Makes no sense to me why this keeps happening. Also sorry for getting way off topic.

I don't know why people complain about the camera on these phones. Mine's great! I think most of it is just user error, not enough lighting, ect.

Play with the settings a bit a you can get some pretty decent pictures. But hey, I'm a little into photography so, $.2

Considering that the same magazine that made the claim about the camera also suggested installing Google Earth, I wouldn't put all too much faith in it. Stock, there isn't a single myTouch device out there with Android 2.2 that Earth requires. There was also something else in there that made as little sense, but I can't remember what is is off the top of my head now...

guys, stop spreading misinformation! google earth is NOT a 2.2 android app. it is a 2.1 app. the issue, in reality, is it requires an arm7 processor or better which we don't have, thus it doesn't work. that's why it doesn't show up in the market on our phones. i keep hearing complaints about the apps list in the mytouch mag...guys the list of top apps in the mytouch mag is NOT tmo's list!!! it is google's list of the top downloaded apps, free and paid, on the android market. no where does it say this list is specific to the mts. it is the standard top apps list from google.

As for the real topic of this thread. I have no idea where tmo's claim of an updated camera app is coming from, but i have had no issues with the camera. I would say to those who have issues you should get it replaced. my mts takes stunning pics for a camera phone. The quality has not degraded on mine at all so it is not a problem with all slides. Just get it replaced and maybe play around with the settings. And btw i do know how to take photos. i have taken several photography classes in high school and at university, however, i don't believe that has anything to do with it.

....

OK fair enough, it's a processor issue not a Android version issue. That actually makes the recommendation even worse since an update to 2.2 won't fix the issue. They suggested an app in a "myTouch" magazine that no current myTouch device can use; that's lazy - at best - no matter if Tmo, HTC, or anyone else wrote it. If you're going to copy, paste, and call it an article somebody should at least make sure what you've pasted is possible for your audience.

Again no where in the article (which isn't an article at all but a simple list) does it "recommend" the app for the mytouch slide. it's just a list...a list of the top apps downloaded worldwide as of August on the android market. it's for educational/informational use only, to let you see what other android users are interested in and downloading. it's just one app from the entire list. stop assuming it has anything to do with mytouch.

If you're going to copy, paste, and call it an article somebody should at least make sure what you've pasted is possible for your audience.

now this i 100% agree with. they should have produced their own list that is slanted towards the devices featured in their mag. it is very lazy, but again it does not say: The Mytouch Slide's 10 most downloaded free [paid] apps as of Aug. 10, 2010. what it does say is "The Android Market's 10 most downloaded free [paid] apps as of Aug. 10, 2010."

nope, sorry! i have it right here in front of me. there are several apps that are actually reviewed and recommended in this issue of 100% you following the top ten list, but google earth is not one of them! it is not one of the apps they review at all. it is simply in the top ten list. it is clearly labeled "The Android Market's 10 most downloaded free [paid] apps." there are no recommendations in that specific list and no claims of compatibility with the slide.

I agree.
I reset my phone twice. Still get FC on incoming/outgoing calls.
