I am goin to get xperia X10 today under AT & T 2 yr contract. My old phone is sony w518a. I am so impressed with the music quality, so i went for sony again. But now i have seen so many negative comments on that phone. I am so confused now. Should i exchange it for samsung captivate?
My first priority is music but iam gonna use it for browsing, installing various apps and games too. I heard samsung captivate is up to date but some are saying it is not stable. So please suggest something, should I keep my xperia or should i go and xchange for captivate?

If you go with a Captivate, be warned. Samsung doesn't update their products as often as other manufacturers (HTC/Motorola/Apple) and the GPS on the phone is busted. So if you plan to use Apps that rely heavily on GPS or location based (Facebook Places, FourSquares, Glympse, etc.) or even plan to use this capability to do searches based on location, this is not your phone. For AT&T, if I was looking or had the option to return my phone right now, IPhone4 would be my choice. Nothing against Android, the OS is great and has tons of capabilities. Unfortunately, Samsung is not the right company to deliver this solution. I'm being honest and no I'm not an Apple Fanboy, as you can tell, I bought a Captivate and find myself extremely frustrated today thanks to a non-working GPS. As for folks that claim their GPS works, look at other sites (Facebook (Samsung Pages), Twitter (Samsung Accounts), Gizmodo, Engadget, CNET, AndroidAndME, AndroidCentral, etc.) and you'll find tons of complaints about this issue and about the entire Galaxy S line being broken.

I dont have car right now, so i dont have to bother about GPS. But what about the music quality over earphones, browsing over wifi, is interface and touch sensitivity is fast?support for various apps?

thank you

With earphones the quality is awesome as long as you hit 5.1 (virtual surround sound). Organizing and importing your music isn't like itunes. You may find it more difficult or a relieve that you don't have to use itunes. Getting album artwork is more of a pain in my opinion; there are various programs out there that help though. Browsing over wifi is awesome. Interface and touch sensitivity... I think it's awesome but others will say different. If you do run into lag issues there are tons of lag "fixes" out there but you should educate yourself as to the consequences (e.g. official updates have a higher chance of failing). AT&T locks out applications that aren't on the android market. There are easy ways around this like the sideload wonder machine program. I haven't ran into an app that wasn't supported.

I don't know a thing about the xperia but in my opinion the Captivate is a great phone that will get better and better. Froyo was promised "later this year" but if Samsung doesn't deliver (highly unlikely, even with their track record) the Captivate community will undoubtedly provide a froyo ROM via an altered i9000 ROM...or something like that. The support of the community is unbeatable. Android tends to attract more techno-savvy people thus hackers etc that like to dink around on their phones. Thus you can let other people mess with their phone and then copy them if it worked. Hope this helps!

That's just artificial spacial processing. It produces a different sound... radically different than the audio engineer intended... and it can be argued both ways whether the different sound is "better". People have their own preference. Actual audio quality is more a product of bitrate and DA converter.
