Delete aldiko?

Hey guys, I use kindle both with software and the actual hardware, so don't have a need to keep this pre-installed software on my samsung galaxy s, how can I delete it safely and will it affect my ability to use the ' restore to factory default' should I want to in the future?

You can delete pre-installed apps, but you need to root your phone to do it. Once rooted you can use something like Root Explorer or Titanium Backup to whack those apps.

Oh yes...it will not affect your ability to restore to factory default.

Can anyone confirm, I'm more nervous about this than rooting, incase it somehow messes up my factory restore ability

I suggest you get a copy ROM Manager and make a full backup before doing anything. That way you can flash back to the way the phone is now if something goes awry. ROM Manager is easy to use...just make sure you do some reading first so you're clear on how it works and what it does.

After that, get Titanium Backup and uninstall the app from there. Again, do a bit of reading and look around in Titanium before making any changes. Don't be intimidated; it's really not complicated, rather it's simply something new.

These things will not screw up a factory restore. You do seem a bit preoccupied with that. There's always a way to get back to stock, so you don't have anything to worry about.

ROM Manager - Android app on AppBrain

Titanium Backup ? root - Android app on AppBrain

Look around here too for loads of information:

However, when I did a factory reset from within the phone, aldiko didn't re-appear, so me thinks thats gone completely

Did you do a full backup with Titanium first? If so, check the apps it listed. You should find it in the list with a line through it. The deleted apps in the backup are listed at the bottom, after the apps that are currently installed.
