Root Rom manager not working...

Since rooting my Desire using Unrevoked 3.21 yesterday I've downloaded the rom manager from the market.

Having successfully flashed the leedroid 2.1a rom to my phone I then found I needed to partition the sd card for A2SD+

When trying to use rom manager to partition my sd card in preperation for A2SD+, I get a white triangle with an explanation mark in it and the android icon beneath.

With the text,

E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted

Then when trying to reboot, the phone was stuck in a boot loop and with a wiped sd card

Managed to get my nandroid backup back on the sdcard and reflash to stock, then when trying to partition again get the same error....thankfully reboot on stock rom works

Any ideas on why my rom manger isn't working?

(I also had a similar error when trying to use the "backup current rom" option)

Rom manager puts an update.zip which contains clockworkmod recovery which Rom manager uses to do those things, via HTC recovery

However rooting with unrevoked replaces HTC recovery with clockwork mod so rim manager can't call it up the way it should

So using unrevoked makes rom manager a no go?

Is there any other app that I can dl from the market that will of create the partition?

With rom manager you are supposed to use the"flash clockworkmod" option, which does this. But you havent got the HTC recovery to call it that way.

Not sure on the best way for you to partition your SD card now.

I did it this way though:

1. Partition Your SD Card
   
   
   • Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
   • You will see HBOOT on the screen.
   • Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
   • You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
   • Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside the pushfiles_windows.zip folder you unzipped as part of the root process.
   • Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD
   • Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32.
   • Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu.
   • Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select Reboot system now. While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.
   • And thats it! You now have a rooted Desire with apps2sd. Get in!

Thanks for trying to help but following the above method is proving impossible due to the moment I run the pushfiles_windows.zip the phone becomes very unstable with random restarts, nandorid backups being made with out me choosing and the trackball going crazy....it's as if the phone has developed a mind of it's own lol!!

ok...looks like I got rom manager to do the partition by rolling back the clockworkmod recovery to 2.5.0.0.

Went through with no errors.

How can I check the sd card partition has actually worked though?

Download quick system info from the market. It shows total?free a2SD memory. If no partition is available it will simply say not available.

Well next time you run into a similiar problem, do try Gparted as an option to partition. It's a powerful partition manager which comes as a Live Cd..Things are as easy as point and click..Less picky than ROM Manager regarding size of partition. You can choose any size. I believe ROM Manager is limited to multiples of 128 Mb upto a max of 512 Mb.

I actually used a Unbutu live cd in the end to check my sd card partions.

Ah..It's the same. Gparted is included in the Ubuntu distro..
