Evo's in stock at the radio shack in schaumburg, Illinois. They have 4 at the time of this post. I know this cause I'm an employee at that radio shack haha. We are located at 1113 south roselle road schaumburg, IL 60193

Come in and get your Evo before there gone!

i just got my evo on saturday. the first radio shack i called had 3 in stock. are evos in high demand and out of stock everywhere or something?

I was in a best buy a couple days ago and they told me the only way they sell the EVO now is via $50 deposit upfront, and you wait two weeks for fulfillment at the store. Not sure if that means the EVO's are in really short supply, or best buy doesn't want to stock them at any one store, or both.

I don't have a google account. My current phone is a Pre.

If you would have setup a a gmail/google account when you received your Palm Pre the transition would be seemless.

I read about all the issues people where having with their Pre's and palm's backup of contacts so when I first got my Palm Pre I started using Gmail for my contacts.

So when I got my EVO all my contacts came over when I signed into my gmail account.

Walmart.com have them with free activation. They list it at $179 but when you add it to your cart, pick your plan and go to to your cart....it shows up as $299. I just tried at www.letstalk.com (who walmart go through) and it does the same there but then when you go through the check out procedure, it drops back to $179 with free activation. Not sure if they allow you to port your number across via them though.

The Sprint store shows the EVO in stock, but this is my order status today:

APA9292KT HTC EVO 1 2010-09-27
Status:Due to timing of delivery of HTC EVOs at our warehouse, your order, or a portion of your order, is temporarily in backorder status. This will not change our delivery commitment to you and you can continue to expect your HTC EVO to arrive within 2 to 5 business days based on date of order. If you have any questions, please call 866-789-8292 between 8:00 a.m. EST to 11:00 p.m. EST Monday to Friday or 9:00 a.m. EST to 9:00 p.m. EST on Saturdays and Sundays.

That makes absolutely NO SENSE what so ever. Gotta give it to Sprint! They're saying that they kinda don't have it and your going to absolutely get it.

What is this? They are actually telling customers they have Evo's but won't sell them unless you buy a $50 gift card as well??
No - to buy an Evo, they have you buy a $50 gift card which puts you in a queue. When the handsets arrive at the store they call and give you a small window of time (we got like 2 hours) to come and get it or you go to the back of the line.

It sucks.

FWIW, I ordered via phone last night from Sprint. In stock, two day shipping; UPS has already shipped it. Premium Sprint status so qualified for the upgrade to the EVO; continued employee discount of 25% on the 450 minute plan, free activation. They threw in a $25 gift card good after 30 days of service, along with a car charger. Despite the website posted prices and promotions, it was $299.99 plus tax, with $100 rebate to send in. Net will be $224.75. Already received the receipt and rebate form in my e-mail. Seems OK to me....:D

P.S.: Lots of posts on after market, standard size batteries through E-Bay... any recommendations on a good E-Bay vendor (the Chinese type is fine, just want to go with an E-Bay source that others are pleased with)?
