Help General Gmail Account Syncing Issue

I'm new to android so it may just be user error, but I'd like to think I'm fairly tech savvy and its not me....
I've had my Epic for more than a month (got it on release day)

1.) I have a gmail account already on the phone and linked up.. but the email to it is somewhat complicated so i created another account via gmail.com (on the computer) and im having trouble having the phone connecting to the server and hosting the account.
i think this might be a temporary google issue.. but some help would be appreciated

2.) I just got into a group at school that requires me to have a calendar..
so i tried to creating all of my dates and times on my phone and then syncing it.. but apparently i had "My Calendar" checked so it won't go
do i have to start over? and will it work this time?

3.) I just now decided that i also want to sync my contacts to my gmail account, but i already have 150+ contacts in my phone. I understand that you have to select save to "google" as opposed to "phone" when saving a new contact..
my question is... do i have to manually go through all 150+ contacts and change this? or is there another way to sync them?

Have you added the second Google account to your phone? When doing so you'll have to enter the password for that new account as well.

You may have to go through each appointment and event that you inputted on your phone, and then select your Google account instead of "My calendar". I know for the few appointments that I entered via the phone, I had to go back and make the appropriate selection, and then they synced with Google calendar.

Not sure about your third question, but I can't imagine you'd have to select each one individually.

lol sorry...
ok so i have my 150+ contacts
then i have my gmail account, person@gmail.com
i want to sync all of my contacts into my gmail account
i have the sync enabled for calendar, contacts, and gmail
gmail get synced
and now the calendar works too (thank you very much)
but contacts do not sync

i know when you create a new contact on the epic it asks "google" or "phone" and i tried it.. saving it as google will allow it to sync to gmail and it will also save in the phone
(i did this and it worked)
from now on do i have to continuously save my contacts under "google"
and how do i convert my already 150+ to that

There is an option to export contacts to SD card (Contacts>menu>more>import/export). Why don't you try to export them to the sd card then import them into Gmail contacts. If it works, you may have duplicates, if so, wipe the phone and just let the gmail account add them back. Keep in mind, this is a theory. I haven't tested it, but if you get your contacts saved to you SD card as file that you have confirmed can be exported into Gmail, you should be safe.

I don't understand question 2.

Question 1, are you using the Gmail app (not the email app). If so, gamil>menu>accounts>add account.

You wouldn't have to wipe your phone. If it does duplicate everything, just delete all the contacts on the phone, then add the account back and it will bring the contacts back in about 45 seconds. I have about 780 contacts, so I don't want to try it. I'm not worried about losing my contacts, I just don't know how long the export process will take. I would export to sd card, mount the phone to the computer (or pull the card and use a card reader) and see what format was used to export. If it was a .csv. I would make another copy open it with Note Pad or excel and delete all the lines but maybe the top two. That way there would only be two contacts in the list. I would import it to your gmail account and see how it handled it. If it successfully imported to gmail, check and see if it now shows on your phone as a duplicate or if the contact shows linked to gmail and phone and handles it correctly (this would be ideal). If it duplicates it, go one by one and delete each contact (It's a pain, but there should only be 152 of them, that is why I would only try two contacts at first), and then import the original (full) file into Gmail. Then you are done. We are supposed to be getting the 2.2 update in the next few months, there is a good chance that is going to wipe the phone anyhow, I would just deal with it now and get it done. Also, if you lose/break your phone, your covered too.
