E-Cigarettes..have you tried them?

I've been a social/light smoker for over 10 years. Recently I've seen a lot of ads for electronic cigarettes, where you basically inhale nicotine infused water that has been heated & produces a vapor. You can get the "juice" in several different flavors.

I picked one up last week & I absolutely adore it! I can "smoke" in those social situations, like dinner or drinks w/ friends w/o having to step out. Plus, my breath & clothes don't smell like stale smoke. And, I'm having a blast experimenting w/ different flavors of "juice."

Has anyone else had any experience w/ these?

My parents are long time smokers. 20+ years. They been trying these and they dont like them. They say they dont taste the same and it really does not kill the craving.

As far as social situations, can you use these in restaurants? Do waiters or mangers come up to you and say something about it? Do you just look crazy smoking an unlit cig?

My e-cig looks nearly identical to the one in the video. It's black w/ a blue LED. I purposely got one that DIDN'T look like a real cigarette. I haven't had much trouble using it in public. If anything waiters have been intrigued & have had questions about how well it works. I've had some weird looks from patrons, but they soon realize I'm not actually smoking a cigarette.

I can see how long-time, heavy smokers wouldn't really take a shine to these. I typically only smoke about a pack & a half a WEEK.

I really like how the "juices" come in varying nicotine strengths. For those trying to kick the nicotine habit, it makes it easier to simply decrease the strength as time goes by. And the flavors...oh man. It's so fun to experiment. Right now I'm smoking a blend of caramel, vanilla, & tobacco :).

Sounds like its making you more of a smoker rather then less of a smoker :p.

Just remember that nicotine isn't any better for you than smoking a cigarette. It's a highly toxic compound with a LD50 of just 40-60mg. The point behind those things is to help ween you off of smoking all together.

Here is a list of the chemicals in the "juices"

Indeed. The juices I've gotten (only a couple bottles) both came w/ warnings slapped all over them. And those were just low/medium nicotine content.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not promoting these as though they're "healthy" at all (like some e-cig companies would like people to think). I just think they're LESS dangerous than normal cigs.

LOL! I wouldn't say "more" of a smoker since I'm not using it in places I NORMALLY wouldn't smoke. For example, I don't pull it out @ my desk @ work, because I've never smoked @ work. I only use it in situations that I'd normally duck out for a smoke.
