Help Really reset to stock?

My two day old, near-stock SF died. The OS crashed and the desktop disappeared. I pulled and replaced the battery but the same thing kept happening. I booted into the recovery console and did a factory reset, which allowed the desktop to show (sorta), but the phone is still throwing errors, and I can't actually log into it using my screen lock password (I'm down to 2 tries left, and I know I'm typing the correct thing).

Is there a way to *totally* wipe this thing back to stock? Like re-flashing factory Samsung ROMs or something? I've already contacted Amazon Wireless and started the return process, the problem is that there's a 1-2 *month* backlog on shipping new units now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nice, glad you are back up and running. Bear in mind if anything resembling a problem like you had before re-surfaces its extremely likely you have gremlins or a defective device and need to exchange it. With that aforementioned 1-2 delay you might need/want to actually contact Verizon directly. But hopefully you wont have to.

Maybe you can't answer this, but did you do anything which might have caused this borking? Did you DL something? I ask only because if it just happended, that might increase the likelihood it might just happen again, e.g. you might have a defective unit

Thanks SAPS. I'm definitely keeping a close eye on it for any further weirdness, but so far, so good. I've reinstalled most of the apps I installed initially and things seem stable.

I didn't do anything to cause the initial crash (that I'm aware of). Like most new users, I installed a bunch of apps (~24ish) and used the device pretty heavily the first day or two, but that's it. I'm holding off on the bigger stuff (rooting, gps fix, lag fix) until after 2.2 drops.
