Issue 3434 (audio latency)

audio latency Issue:

This might not be a big deal to most but today, I went to the Android market looking for a music app, something like NanoStudio for iPhone. I found a lot of 2nd rate loop creation synth nonsense. After trying different free versions of paid software I asked myself "why are there no good music apps for Android?"

I emailed the creators of NanoStudio to ask if there are any plans to release an Android version of their software. here is the reply:

"Not until they get their act together with audio latency, no. Shame really because NanoStudio's written to be cross platform"

This greatly disappointed me. I am a music producer going on 10 years (hip hop, Trip hop, Electronic, etc..) so you can understand my interest in this issue.

iphone, iPod have amazing music apps of this sort. Android has nothing close.

YouTube - NanoStudio iPhone - First Demo

I went here:

Issue 3434 - android - need NDK support for real-time low latency audio; synchronous play and record - Project Hosting on Google Code

And learned that a great amount of Devs are looking to bring great music apps to Android but because of the audio latency issue with in Android their hands are tied. Maybe if enough of us star the issue Google will listen?

I don't normally rant, maybe I was due..

Not much to say here. Sucks.

Yes it does. Comments are not really necessary in this thread though.

The only thing Im really hoping to get out of this is if anyone reading would just go to the link in the OP and star the issue, thats really all this thread was for. That and just so others are aware of this issue.

Im fully aware that this is possibly a lost cause but it cant hurt to raise awareness and try to get an issue resolved. Here is another email I was send from the same company as above in regards to the issue:

"Hi Pablo

I've looked into this but unfortunately Android's audio latency is too
high for real time music apps to work effectively. Until they sort this
problem out, it's not going to be possible I'm afraid.

Best regards"

How does someone "star" the issue?
Iphone App is is amazing BTW

If you go to the original post, click the link in blue on the bottom. Once you're there at the top left side of the page it says 'star the issue' just click on the star and that's it.
If you read some of the posts u can see that devs want to bring quality apps to android, this issue prevents it.

Thx!

since this is an android issue and not an epic issue, why not post this under android applications? Doesn't make sense here where it's a bit limited in exposure.

Thanks, already thought about that.

I dont really check that forum. I always come here because I own an Epic. This is for the people who are like me and just come here. I will post there though.
