Root can i overclock the stock rom

what is the best method to over clock my vibrant i wanna keep stock rom is that possible

You need a custom ROM or at least a custom kernel to overclock. Here's a kernel you might take a look at:

[KERNEL] JAC XMOD OC/UV w/Voodoo and w/Colorfix [CFQ] CWM/Stock/ODIN V1.1 10/02/10 - xda-developers

Pay close attention and do some reading/research before you flash anything. Ask questions if need be, otherwise yours could be a tale of misery and woe.

After installing on OC kernel SetCPU is the best way to go:

SetCPU for Root Users - Android app on AppBrain

Hi, i just rooted, installed the JAC Custom kernel v1.1 and lagfix but i still notice stutter when scrolling through 3 homescreens. (disabled the others)

i have 2 widgets, 15 game folders (categorized by genre) and 10 other shortcuts spread across these homescreens. i have it OC'd to 1200MHz and the Quadrant score is at 2431-2440 range.

i thought OC will improve performance especially with psx4droid but i dont see the difference. clockwork mod 2.5.0.4

Well...if you want to try a great ROM, check out Bionix...should be updated later today to v1.6. It's been getting rave reviews, and I've been using if for the past few weeks.

[ROM] Bionix 1.5 - JI5 Build w/New JI6 Modem *10/02/10* - xda-developers

It's a brutally long thread, but it makes for interesting reading overall.
