Hello lady and gents,

I am New to rooting...and yes, I read the warnings.

I believe I am one step away from Bricking my phone. Need an expert on how to get my phone to work again. I rooted with unrevoked 3 a few days ago and things were alright, however, after downloading a few different Rom's, now all I have is a HTC incredible trademark screen with a white background when powering up and goes nowhere. I can get into ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.5 and I wiped everything I could, but unable to re-flash my phone. If you can help, please respond asap.

My only phone...

I believe I did an Nandroid backup.
I also tried selecting the 'backup and restore' option...but when I do, clockworkmod Recovery says : Couldn't open directory. No files found.

I tried everything (selectable wise) on the clockworkmod recovery screen, fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock, and factory reset. I also tried reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down. wiped mounts and storage, wipe data/factory reset, wiped cache partition. Also, advanced screen: Reboot Recovery, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Wipe Battery Stats, Report Error,Key Test. Basically, if was there, I tried it.

Sometimes when removing battery and holding power/down button on I get either 3 or sometimes 5 quick vibrations from the phone and will only boot up to the white screen with the HTC Incredible trade mark logo.

When trying to re-load unrevoked3 from my computer to the phone, I get a message from the unrevoked3 screen stating: Device/sbin/sh:get prop: not found is not supported at this time

This is what is says on my clockwork recovery screen:

INCREDIBLE XC SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.9.0000
MICROP-O417
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO- 2.15.00.07.28

Do I need to re-flash something from the computer and how?

HELP Please it's my only phone.

Well...no luck.

I formated/wiped SD card then re-installed PB31IMG.zip to the SD card using a USB slot on my computer. Reinstalled the SD card in my phone and tried to reboot...no luck.
Then tried the unrevoked3 reflash_package.exe and would not load. Tried the virtuous-inc_froy_rom-V3.0.1.zip. would not load. Grrrrrrr....

you don't need to name it PB31IMG just name the rom zip whatever is easy to remember and save it to your sdcard. At that point with clockworkmod you should be able to select any zip to flash. flash the new rom and you should be back in business. Have you flashed a custom kernal?

No, did not flash a custom Kernal...yet.

Hey rjschroed!!!!!!! I think its working!

Wiped the SD card clean and just installed the virtuous ROM (unzipped) on the SD, inserted back into phone, Virtuous started right up once selected from the clockworkMod screen. woooot! Me likey.

A big Thank you to all that helped.

Download any rom. Place the entire .zip file on your sd card. Do not extract it, do nothing. Just drop it in there.

Now boot into hboot by holding the volume down and power buttons.

I suggest you not have any files named PB31IMG.zip on your sd card or else hboot will take forever loading the file.

Now use the volume down to highlight recovery and the power button to select it.

Now clockwork mod recovery should be on the screen (black screen/green text). Go to install zip from sdcard and select it with the trackball. Now select 'choose zip from sdcard'.

Select the rom you placed on the sd card and hit yes.

It will take everything from there.

Next time I advise you to do a little more research into this before you attempt flashing a rom again.

ericS96521 Thanks for the info.... I did read many posts (maybe too many) and was downloading things I didn't need and after many hours in frustration, I finally figured it out by not trying to unzip the ROM's when storing on my SD card... I think that was the 'key'.

It may take me a while but, once learned, my mind is like a steel trap...errrr.... well..maybe with a little surface rust.

Ok now go into Rom manager and make a back up so if it happens again you don't need to start from scratch.

I am having that same problem except when i install any full rom zip file they all ask me to download an update of some sort, i dont know what it is but all i know is that my phone goes through a whole system of operations and then aborts the installation and asks to update is that b/c it is trying to update a 2.2 file that my sd card does not have or do i need to just download the full 2.1 image and try from there?

Also, my whole list of operations my phone goes through to boot the file are on this page:
