Hi Friends,

I want to set a ringtone from my sd card to a contact directly, is it possible in Android 1.6 (Sony Ericsson X10) ? Any application is their ?

I tried few applications, in which i can go to the contact (Edit) & select a ringtone & assign it but the problem is iam having around 1000+ songs & all songs were listed thr. So not able to search my ringtone immediately its taking so much time to search manually.

If iam seeing the ringtone from my sd card folder & able to select the ringtone & assign it to a contact it would be better.... :)

Is it possible in any of ur known applications ??? Kindly assist me.

Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for the one that plays a "Sound for SD card notifications", here is how:

From your home screen, press the left button > Settings > Sound & Display > SD Card Notifications > Place a Check Mark in the Box. There you have it!

Regarding the other option, a Ringtone per Contacts. Got to the Market and Check out, "Ringdroid"! It has a 4 3/4 Star Rating and 84,128 providing a Rating and over 250,000 Downloads! and looks to be your answer. There are a slew of others out there, it is just a matter of picking out what you want. If you are having trouble finding them in the Market, try this: While in the Market, press the Search Magnifying Glass Icon in the upper right, than in the Search Field, type this, without the quotes: "Contact Ringtones" and press the Enter Key and watch your screen pile up with choices. I think the one I pointed will serve your needs well, IMO............

Hi Gunny,

Iam having around 1000 contacts in my phone & ringtones/Music files more than that...

If i need to assign a ringtone for a contact iam manually going to a contact By
Contact >> Edit contact >> Assign ringtone >> Music folder >> Music files (Here more files available) so not able to select a particular song which iam willing to assign for a contact.

Yes iam seeking advice on some application or option where i can go like this

File manager (Any Application ) >> Music folder >> Specific Ringtone folder >> Music file (.mp3) [ By selecting this music file i need to Assign for a contact...]

Hope this clarifies you more...

Thanks for the reply!

In this way i need to set a ringtone for a contact. Is it possible ?

Hello, Did this option work for you??:

Hi Gunny,

Thanks for ur rapid response.

Ringdroid is good for editing & assigning to contact (Its also showing all the songs) but when i want to use my own ringtone which is available already in SD Card. Still the problem persists...

I tried with other applications also...:(

Gotcha. Well, I think your going to need to head out to The Market and search for one specific to your needs, since your phone doesn't provide the appropriate answer. In your case, Let Your Fingers do the Walking, as it is solution. Let me know if you find the one you need!

Good Luck!

Well, for what ever reason, I just was not satisfied with my previous response, so I dug a little deeper and hopefully resolved your dilemma. So here we GOOOO: :D

OK try THIS: Enter Mediascape. From within Mediascape > Select Song > Press the left front button > Press the button "Set as Ringtone". Now go back to your contact. Press the left Button (on the bottom front) > Edit > scroll down to the field Ringtone > Scroll to you find YOUR" choosen Ringtone (Note the Ringtones are stored in Alphabetical Order, mixed in with the standard Ringtones). Should be good to go! :)

Since you set up your ringtones, have you reset your phone at all? I'm thinking for what ever reason, you need to do it this specific way currently as it was reset for what ever reason as they were not showing up. However, after you do one, maybe ALL of your previous ones will now appear. If not, at least you know it can be resetup.....:D

Problem should now be resolved........ Yes or No??????????????

*** NOTE: Previously I thought the Ringtones were added to the end (Bottom) of the Set Ringtones; However, this is NOT the case as they are set in Alphabetical Order.

Hopefully, this is now solved and I can rest peacefully for the rest of the night, knowing "WE" stared the monster down and won the battle, LOL!!

Gunny
