Another Tiresome Question (That will be helpful though)

Ok, I've been checking out these forums for about a month now and have been stoked on Android phones. I currently have a LG enV Touch that is nothing but a hindrance for me. I will be staying on Verizon.

I've checked out both the Droid and the Eris and hated the way the Droid looked and felt. So I'm leaning towards picking up an Eris. Of course, I've always read about these other phones that are apparently better coming out rather soon. My question is, should I just go ahead and grab the Eris or wait another month or so?

I'm not a "power user" by any means so a large processor, huge screen, and the latest techo-gizmos do not entice that much. Of course, that'd be nice, but it's not a must. I just want a nice phone that I can make calls from, send texts, check email on occasion, and briefly check the internet for directions, facebook, restaurents, etc. I don't need it for movies or full on websurfing, I've got a computer for that.

I agree with you, as far as the Droid, didn't like the look or feel of it !

Personally , I've been with Verizon for quite awhile and was about to abandoned them, didn't care about how good their network was, they couldn't seem to keep up in the phone dept................Then they went Android on me! I've always envied the people who could purchase HTC phones through their carrier, because I believe they probably make some of the best ones out there !

Sorry to sound like a fan-boy, but it's about time Verizon stepped up to the plate and they didn't dissapoint this user !

The Eris will be a perfect fit, based on your comments ! Had mine since day one, battery life "HAS" improved , with use and wouldn't trade it for any other, even ones coming out in the near future !

I don't see how the Droid keyboard is even usable. To each their own.

Personally, I've never had a problem with Verizon's network. I mistakingly terminated a contract to goto T-Mobile where their service left me with NO RECEPTION at work.

I may just mosey on over to the Verizon store tomorrow before work and help myself to an Eris!

Judging by your usage profile, the Eris is fine. If you buy it now, you have until January 13 to test it just in case you get tempted by a better phone.

If GPS navigation sounds important to you, or if you rely on Bluetooth file transfers, then you should wait awhile before getting the Eris. Those are features that aren't available until we get the free upgrade to Android 2.0. It is confirmed that we will get this in Q1 2010, so you could wait until then and either get the Eris, or whatever the newest, hottest phone is at that time. But if you want a new phone now, and you really want those features, then you need to get a Droid, because that's the only option you have on Verizon.

Still... the Eris is so much sexier, and the proprietary additions that HTC adds to the vanilla android OS are pretty sweet.

Someone posted in another thread the Eris would be getting turn by turn GPS in the first update. Even if it doesnt you could always buy something like CoPilot.
