Samsung Demonstrates 330 Mbps WiMax 2 - Standard should be finalized by November... - dslreports.com

Hey T-Mobile, is 330 mbps fast enough? ;)

Now of course we won't be seeing phones downloading at 330 mbps (the regular standard will be 120 down/60 up) but it will still be blazing fast for handsets. It will be interesting to see whether Sprint and Clearwire stay with WiMAX or switch to LTE. At this point I don't even think Clearwire knows what they're going to do.

Actaully, tmobile wants to join wimax.

They are going to run both.

Their chief network officer recently just called WiMAX a "niche play" and said they'll be looking at LTE when the time is right. They've been negotiating a deal with Clearwire for a while but I believe it's for spectrum to build LTE.

You're right. A quick Google search shows that Clearwire is already testing LTE. What about Sprint? I've heard about the possibility of dual mode WiMAX/LTE chips but would it be financially feasible to do so and run both networks when every other carrier is just running LTE?

The smart thing to do for Sprint would be to convert to LTE if they want to and just continue to use Clear to roam and co locate on the Wimax LTE networks with them..

Wimax will be to big of a deal over seas and in the U.S. to go away.. There are quite a few local companies gearing up to launch Wimax in their local areas.

If Sprint and Clear play their cards right the build outs in the rural areas will be done for them and they will have less areas to cover and can focus on filling in the Metropolitan areas with better coverage.

Wimax 2 will be icing on the cake for them..

They have already started to sign international roaming agreements.. LTE and WIMAX will become the new CDMA and GSM networks. Sprint and Clear could dominate both sides while other networks will have to chose a single path in the future
