Help Spell Checker

i went to the store today and used an epic. i did not find that it had any predictive text input, but all specs say it does. is there a way to turn this on?

edit: only saw it when using swipe. not while typing with either keyboard
There is NONE....there is also no spellcheck! The latter is DEVASTATING, unfortunately, I've grown very attached to SC.

I do LOVE SWype. I got the phone because of the physical keyboard, but I never use it. Its either Swype or talk to text.

that sad. could be the deal breaker for me. i'm not a good speller and need a backup. Now with my pre a lot of times i have to type words in to google to check them.

Can you talk to text facebook updates? does the evo have talk to text?

You can talk to text anywhere you can type. Its a keyboard feature. Evo does have talk to text but I don't have any working knowledge of it. There is also an app in the market called Vlingo. It is even better than the stock talk to text.

There is a spell check app, but it doesn't spellcheck within the application. You have to copy/paste text between the Spellcheck app and the originating app. It interfaces pretty well, but it is nothing like on the spot spellcheck :(

I've noticed many newer phones claiming to have certain features which either work like shit or not at all

When I got the Epic I thought it was a very good smart phone I realized it didn't have spell check. The solution to this problem is going to a website I like for spellcheck and grammar. I just type what I want to say then let the web program spellcheck then I copy and past into my email and texting. It's a bit of a pain but it works until Android gives us something that is just plain common sence.

Hope this helps.

Why do all that? Just download the free app, Spell Checker, same thing you copy and paste text into the app. Decent interface but an in app spell check needs to happen soon!

AGREED! ...don't know how something like this could be an oversight!

when i had my first winmo phonewhich was winmo 5 and even that had spell checker. we used to make fun of blackberry's for not being able to do it... we made fun of iphone users.... now i'm the one getting made fun of :(

droid seems like such a powerful platform but i have to admit, winmo had more business oriented app integration like outlook, calendar, spell checker... too bad it was just ******ed unstable.

i've been using swype since touch pro... still don't know what's the hype ;) good old fashion keyboard is soooo much faster and easier especially when you're doing IT stuff that isn't in any dictionary.
