A lot of other roms are CyanogenMod based. Doubtful you will run across the same problems with other roms, even though they use the same base to start from. You could also use the Theme Porter from this thread:
Theme-Porter [v1.0] [Any Firmware / Rom Compatible] [WINDOWS] - xda-developers and download one of the full Buuf roms from forkup and use it to port the Buuf icons and pictures to the rom of your choice. If you aren't sure how it works from reading through the thread, let me know and I can give you a guiding hand. I've used it a few times, including porting a Buuf theme from a 2.1 Droid Eris rom to a Froyo Eris rom, however I got hurt at work kinda bad today and not really in the mood to type out all of the instructions if I don't need to.
