Might be old news. UK Release Date

Not to mention, if you shop in the right areas and not mall shops (Go Kowloon side and walk along on Nathan Road ;)) you will be able to bring em down a lil on the price too.

I am curious though as to why the comparison was done on an iPhone ;) and not a desire HD...Don't defect! haha *jokes*

Thanks for the tip pal, for your comparison question, the prices are public on Apple's web sites (UK % Hong Kong), that's all :D

All I can say is Oct 16th was the official release date, but it looks like there could be a delay of a week, I hope there is no delay, but it looks like there is, I already have a dummy/sample, I have a gel skin case, and screen protectors, I just want this phone ASAP!

Fed up waiting.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this so-called "exclusivity deal" is with Vodafone cos, let's face it, they like to think they're the Microsoft of mobile phones in the UK. MS liking to be first with big game releases and DLC of course but I digress.

This whole exclusivity rubbish gets on my wick.

If people are willing to pay full-whack for the handset, let THEM have it first.

My bleedin' Desire with it's overheating issue is resetting itself more often lately so I really need the HD so I can send this one off to get fixed......<sigh>

Carphone warehouse is down for maintenance... Desire HD release please :D

So was O2's website yesterday evening..but that happens quite often.

im jealous of u all going to hong kong can i sneak into your bag lol

i hope it is released soon as spencer says any news from mpd i will update

No xD

I just got this from a HTC advance certified seller :

hi,

I wanted to inform you that HTC are pushing back
all UK Sim free stock of the desire HD due to a
possible exclusivity period with a UK network.
This will affect all UK resellers. Network
locked handsets may appear on the market but these
will be branded and not Sim free. Unlock codes
will be almost impossible to obtain in the first
instance. If you are still hoping to have a Sim
free handset then I suggest you hold fire until
the official release date. I am happy to offer a
full refund and reverse the auction if you
require. However I still believe that I will have
stock sooner than some other suppliers. I would
hazard a guess and say that stock will arrive in
the next 15 days.

Best regards

--------------------------------------

Does this sound right?

As I've said before and I will say again, NOBODY is going to get stock any quicker than anywhere else regardless of if they are a reseller or not. Unless you are physically going to go over to Taiwan and wait in the factory whilst they are made, it ain't gonna happen.

well we're hearing all different things-it could be the networks are getting it first rather than everyonw else who knows

spencer has been told by mpd it will be unlocked but they could be wrong or they dont know for sure that its been changed

Its just a case of wait and see.

Thanks for the tip pal, for your comparison question, the prices are public on Apple's web sites (UK % Hong Kong), that's all :D

:)

Guys, everyone here is England? Will first launch of Desire HD be in England only? If there are rumours about problems which can postpone launch dates, what about other countries launch dates?

We always have delayed releases here..Its just the way of the UK market haha

All I can say is Oct 16th was the official release date, but it looks like there could be a delay of a week, I hope there is no delay, but it looks like there is, I already have a dummy/sample, I have a gel skin case, and screen protectors, I just want this phone ASAP!

Colrey, you have basically waited for links and then plucked another date out. Your sources weren't there then, and they still ain't now!

why was it the official release date when contract orders were going out on the 7th when i ordered?

Thats what I would like to know

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this so-called "exclusivity deal" is with Vodafone cos, let's face it, they like to think they're the Microsoft of mobile phones in the UK. MS liking to be first with big game releases and DLC of course but I digress.

I wouldn't say that, bare in mind, T-Mobile and HTC have very good relations (they released the first android phone in the UK via the G1)

Best thing we can all really do is wait and stop GUESSING dates. I could say 14th Jan 2011 and it would be no more viable than any other dates on here.

NOBODY is going to get the phone in essence all that much quicker than anyone else

spencer im annoyed now you wont let me come with you! lol

youre right about the dates and the whos going to get it first business -i still await my email from mpd if i dont get it tomorrow though im getting in contact again

Calling them tomorrow or every day of the week is not going to speed your delivery up..It's only going to waste your time.

Because I am in good standing with Cathay Pacific and I won't smuggle people onto planes ;)

Nothing to do with tawain, handsets are ready, HTC are delaying this. That's why I have my sample.

Proof that you have a handset sample please.

Photo with your username held up on some paper would be useful..Otherwise, baseless.

Yet everyone else is saying it's down to Google tesing/approval.

Strange........

Its usually networks that do the handset testing. I used to work at Orange (Broadband side not mobile, but had good insight with it) and they take an age with there mobile testing, especially for android.

As the rest of us have only seen HTC's stock photos or photos taken at trade fairs, it would be very interesting to see your sample. Could you upload some photos of it?

Agreed.

Hi guys! Brand new member on Android Forums and soon to be the owner of a brand new HTC Desire HD. My first ever Android smartphone and first ever touchscreen smartphone. So yeah i'm a newbie! My current phone is a Nokia N86 which is superb but looking to move with the times hence the move to a new platform and handset but will definetely be keeping my trusted and best N-Series phone to date, N86!

I won't be able to upgrade to Desire HD so i'm looking to buy it sim-free and to be honest with the fiasco that's been the Froyo update, i'm glad i'll be getting a sim-free and unbranded smartphone.

We all know the sim-free Desire HD has been delayed till end of Oct so i thought i'd do a little update on the various websites selling the phone and what dates/prices they have.

I know it's been reported the sim-free HTC Desire HD delay is due to Google testing, personally i think that's BS. I think the real reason there's a delay till the end of October is down to Vodafone's exclusivity with the Desire HD on contract.

When you think about it how can the sim-free handsets not have passed Google testing when obviously the contract handsets must have? It doesn't make sense. Vodafone are apparently getting the phone on the 14th which is next Thur and the rest of us will be getting it 2 weeks later, 29th Oct onwards.

To be honest i think that's a raw deal.

Looks like the delay has happened, fingers crossed I get the real thing next week!
You really are one of the most puzzling posters I've come across. You make these statements, which, despite many requests, you refuse to elaborate on. This time, despite TheSuper's comprehensive post showing that the earliest date for the arrival of the HD being Tuesday week, you claim to be able to get it next week.

I'm not holding my breath, but how are you able to get it earlier than everyone else?

Watching reviews spoils it for me...I will be interested to hear on battery performance, but i'll do what I always do..carry a spare battery..they are cheap enough!.

Two batteries' charges follow up is a tough task for me pal. Every day follow which one is full which is not, then replace and charge again and again.... That's why I am waiting to decide Iphone 4 or DHD :D
