orange uk and t-mobile signal sharing

Thats really great info, thank you. I have just had a look and can sign up so might do that tomorrow when I have a bit more time to read through the 'quirks' bit.
The only "quirk" seems to be that this arrangement is treated as roaming and, as with any Android phone, the X10 isn't set for roaming by default. So, when sharing Orange's network, you can either put up with the warnings that your data connection has been lost, or you can change your settings to allow roaming. Just remember to change it back before you go abroad or you could get a very high bill! T-Mobile do say they're working on a downloadable fix to resolve this.

Meh, I've signed up now. There's only one place I know of on my daily commute where I totally lose signal with T-Mobile, and it used to drop there when I was on Orange and before that on O2 too! I'm assuming this may come in handy one day, but I don't expect to see "Orange" on my home screen often. Anyway, it's free. :D

All done and dusted. Altho living in the south east I have to remember to switch it off if we go to the coast.... down around Dover and Folkestone my phone has a nasty habit of picking up French tel co's with roaming allowed! Got stung by a load of text charges last summer whilst on a day out.

Again thanks for the info. It's good to share :)

Get down here often then? Small world indeed LOL

I come from the land of the Chav... so not far. We go down to Hythe Bay Restaurant once in a while, Samphire Hoe for a bit of a stroll (still wanting to go down there when there is a big bottomed storm coming in) Dover Cliffs for the same, and take the boy and his mate to Camberin the summer hols for a bit of skim boarding (saw your Kite vids the other day and wondered if you were local).

Sorry for the hijack.

I've connected mine manually now to the "Orange T-Mobile" connection, and as I only use 2G, this is giving me full bars almost all the time now, rather than the 1 or 0 bars I was getting from Orange while at work.

If your in the Birmingham area by the way, a mast is down close to the city centre also, destroying the 2G signal at the moment (well as of yesterday).

Only thing I have noticed is that Im still receiving texts late sometimes, getting voicemails and messages saying I have missed calls even though my phone didnt react in anyway.

I will wait till 2.1 comes out and see whats going on and if it still does it I will just ask for a new phone.
