I know theres a lot of threads with people having problems with deodexing but I almost finished and ran into this problem -

OK, I have a rooted OTA X and began to follow the below instructions -

[HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.

Everything was going fine until I went into cmd to run adb -

adb shell
su
stop
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
cp /sdcard/done_app/* /system/app/
cp /sdcard/done_frame/* /system/framework/
rm /system/app/*.odex
rm /system/framework/*.odex
mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
reboot

After I ran the prompt in green, and then proceeded to run the prompt in red CMD stated "no such file or directory". Now I moved both folders onto the root of my sdcard like the directions stated, and from my PC I can see that they are indeed in the folder. BUT now my phones froze, still plugged into the PC, with debugging on, in Mass Storage mode, adb doesn't recognize the device either - I can't do anything on the phone, no button will "wake" it from this state. I'm afraid to pull the battery or even unplug it from the PC.

Was it the previous command line that did it? the one in green? Please help, I was almost finished and this is my first attempt at this process.

Thank you so much in advance!! I did a Tbackup before I did this, just in case, if that helps. And I can still browse my sdcard via pc connection it that helps too.

EDIT: SORRY, I WAS IN A PANIC AND DIDN'T REALIZE WHICH TOPIC THIS WAS IN AFTER LOGGING IN - PLEASE MOVE, THIS BELONGS IN EVERYTHING ROOT -

I dont know what it is you did wron but I followed the same guide this morning and mine came out ok. I'm by no means an expert but i believe that since the cp command failed you didnt actually copy anything to the system app directory. Supposedly up till this point you've just pulled from your system folder... updated files... outputted to the Main.exe app directory... and copied that to the root of sd. Nothing there should have modified anything important (yet). I would guess that you're good for a battery pull. Besides.... if the phone is currently Fracked... why not.. cant get worse. Thank's just my opinion. Sorry for your situation bro

Ok, now my phone just rebooted - everythings back to normal, but I never got the chance to push or cp those two folders over. should I attempt the adb cmb process again?

I'm going to try to push the folders over again, adb sees my device -

ONE THING THOUGH, I HAVE BOOTSTRAP RECOVERY AND SU ASKS PERMISSION EVERYTIME I REBOOT - COULD THIS BE HINDERING ANYTHING?

Thanks for the reply, really I do - :)

Ok, I tried the commands again and the one line before you push cp the first froze it - then I typed adb reboot

Now I'm in Clockwork, I have the option to reboot but I can't execute - which physical button executes in clockwork? Search does nothing, back does nothing, home blacks out the screen - hit it again and the screen is back up, same results with the settings button and power button. Volume obviously moves up and down but I can't reboot. Help please? I know I'm new at this but I have to be missing something here. Right now I'd just like to be able to reboot.

if you've copied the 2 folders to the root of SD and you can adb shell do this:

cd /sdcard/

now type

ls

this will give you a directory listing

do you see the 2 folders?

if so then you should be good to go on repeating the process

I will most definitely try this once I can reboot - I've never used clockwork before. Nothing seems to exe the selected field...

Should I pull?

EDIT - OK SO I'M A YUTZ, forgot all about the camera button - will do the above mentioned and see what it see - thank you again for your help and replies, I very much appreciate it!

Ok, I'm back online - when I type cd /sdcard/ it states can't cd to sd card - this is after I type adb shell - I have a $ sign at prompt if that helps

EDIT: All though I can ls and see sdcard as a folder
EDIT 2: I had to type su to get the # sign to cd to sdcard
EDIT 3: When I get the # sign I can't it disconnects, adb can't recognize the device

what mode are you in when connected to PC?

I did windows media sync mode w/ debugging on

btw in clockwork recovery... it's the camera (red) button that executes the menu option

I'm in mass storage mode, that's what the instructions said to do - but maybe that's just because the 2 folders needed to be moved. I will try the commands again in sync mode, although when in that mode I don't get debugging in my notification bar, but adb does see my device.

EDIT: Ok, one folder moved over in sync mode - now why wasn't that in the instructions? anyway - thank you for your help, soon I will let ya know if it was a success, and on that subject - HOW will I be able to know if the process completed correctly?

Ah, well I did mine in sync mode.. I cant speak for what your supposed to do or why... just what worked for me. good luck.

NO, honestly you saved my ass by bring that up - its not mentioned in the instructions, it states to switch to Mass Storage (apparently to just move the two folders) and then jumps right into ADB commands, nothing about switching over - now, this may be a common knowledge thing, when pushing files around on Android you need to be in sync mode, but I'm from RIM land and I just didn't know - I am taking baby steps though -

Thank you! now how to I know that everything is complete? all processes completed without problems, well once I figured how to push in adb.

Alright success! I've checked in the system/app folder and everything has apk extensions.

Thank you for all that helped, I honestly couldn't do it without you guys! If theres anything I can ever help with shoot me a IM - see sig, I'm working on the site at night and it will be up soon. Only certain credentials will get you user access and I've saved every file you could imagine that "certain" corps have banned/taken down.
