Help 2.1 Update!!

hi guys does anyone no when this 2.1 update for the xperia x10 is meant to be released cause ave tried updating my phone but its keeps saying am fully upto date ??

Hey Scott, the update is due to start rolling out at the end of the month but it will probably take a few extra weeks for all the various carriers to do their checks and add their bloatware so sometime in November hopefully.

Where are you in the world and what carrier are you on?

Ah well - will be too busy playing on KINECT for 360 by then, unless rumours of the X12 mentioned by Gunny turn true or i have LiveView in my hands

If your with O2 then it may take a while...

2.2 for the Desire came out around 2-3months ago yet my mate who is on O2 only got the update for his Desire 2 days ago so it might take you a while to get it.

But after seeing 2.1 on the Desire and my gf's Galaxy Portal all we will get is a bit more speed and a better battery life along with live wallpaper and HD video. I think I will stick with my rooted 1.6 as I can do almost everything 2.2 does including using the phone as a wifi hotspot plus I have spent so long doing little tweaks here and there like adding new fonts I dont want unroot it and update the OS.

At the minute SE are saying Oct/Nov....so expect Nov/Dec at the earliest for the generic FW and early 2011 for the network branded FW

i dont think the live wallpaper will have much effect on the life of the battery imho

the wallpaper is only gonna be "live" when the screen is unlocked...as when the phone is in standby i doubt the wallpaper will be moving

Well my mate wont run it on his desire as in his words "The phone only lasts as long as your X10 when I run live wallpapers"

So if it drains the desire think what it will do to the X10???

Live wallpaper refers to an animated/interactive background. The one I've seen is the leaves floating on water. Waves in the water are created when you touch anywhere on the screen.

I'm sure there will be a way to turn it off if it causes battery drain.

You can even have the one where it plays whole levels of mario world! Put that one on and it's like you can see the battery drain as you watch lol.

In other news, I saw that the X8 starts shipping today, and in the release Sony is saying that while the X8 is also shipping with 1.6 (really Sony?), it will also be getting the 2.1 upgrade "later this year".

Sony was? Or online bloggers were. Big difference. People (bloggers) are quick to work off rumors at best rather than actual information.

I am pulling up press releases and blogs as old as June that clearly state it is a 1.6 phone that will later receive the 2.1 update.

I didn't look, I just thought "What's this guy smoking that's making him think it's been released"

Most X10 users keep updated via most sources everyday, so it would have been posted on here by now, that's probably the main reason only one person looked lol
