Using Email widget w/o receiveing multiple copies of email

Hey, I was just wondering if there was any setting that would allow me to use the HTC Email Widget (with my Gmail account) without receiving two copies of the same email (one through Gmail, and one through HTC mail)? It's a little annoying having to delete double-copies of the same email each morning. I stopped using the HTC Email application completely, but there's no widget for Gmail (which I prefer to the HTC application). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I am having a hard time understanding but it sounds like you are using both a gmail app and the htc mail app...which is generating copies in the email widget?

is this correct? or have you removed the gmail app and soley using the htc mail app and you are getting two copies?

if b is the case...it sounds like a second instance of your email got set up in the htc email app... one is already created when you enter in your gmail addy when setting up a new phone so if it was added again manually it would generate copies

that's my theory anyway... i don't use the htc mail app or widget :(

For me, I use the built in Gmail account (not the HTC Mail program) BUT, I like the HTC Widget (see attached image) and would like to view Gmail in that widget without having to setup an IMAP/POP account to view it in.

gotcha... so you are getting a copy in gmail inbox and htc inbox...does the widget display both or only one copy? where are the duplicates?

from what it looks like the duplicates are

1 copy in htc inbox

2nd copy in gmail

only one email displays in widget...

sooooo... i would suggest that one set up the htc account..but turn off ALL notifications..then you get them in the widget, but not a notification of having them in the htc mail app.

Well, technically you are setting up 2 emails for 1 account. They arent duplicates per say, they are just in 2 different locations. 1 copy goes to Gmail Widget and 1 goes to HTC Mail.

The HTC Widget will ONLY show POP or IMAP email not the native Gmail client emails.

Does it make sense?

I am only familiar with there being one widget....the htc widget...and you can set this up to display gmail. I will load the htc mail stuff back onto my phone and play with it.

sorry for the delay...somehow my hboot is jacked up and nandroids won't install

so...I was bale to load htc mail back on to my phone and this is what i did.

added the widget to a screen
press pop blah blah blah
entered my gmail addy and password
it took me to the mail app
menu>settings>turn off notifications (either here or in gmail) This way you only get 1 notification.

so, not sure if this accomplished what you want but you will only get 1 notification from whichever you choose..gmail or the htc email app and you will have use of the widget. technically you will still be getting email in your gmail app inbox, and your htc mail inbox...

I would just delete the htc mails once a week or month etc

until gmail comes up with a widget this is the only way I have found to do it
