Possible date for Froyo (got it from customer service rep)

I just got off the phone with a customer service representative. I asked him about the update to 2.2 for the MyTouch Slide, and after a long but very entertaining talk about Angry Birds, HSPA+, and Twitter, he actually told me that the date for Froyo to send out OTA is between Mid-October (e.g., Oct 15th-ish) and Early to mid November. :D
Oh, and as a quick side note...
a. The Pedo-Bear is very real...
b. Hot girls from Facebook may very well be old fat guys in their balding 40's

And the representative I talked to the other day had no clue the the Mytouch Slide had a keyboard

I can realize why some of you have reason to doubt this as untrue, but the representative was actually cool enough to pull up a calander that had the dates in question marked. Plus, didn't someone from these forums just see a different firmware version on a T-Mobile employees MyTouch Slide? Not to mention, he was the smartest representative I've ever spoken too (its not saying much, but still. He had knowledge of how to code for the Android core system) just saying... keep an eye out for it ;)
BTW, mwl1119, I love your picture. Makes me lol every time :D

last time I spoke to VS They girl I spoke to was really really nice and tried to be helpful.. but her knowledge of Android made that phone call useless... I would say things to her and she had to stop and look up what I was talking about.. and she was the Android specialist I was connected to...

Yea, I've definetly had my share of the dumb customer service reps. One time, I got one that didn't know Android was a smartphone (WTF??) But I'm telling ya, this guy knew his stuff. In fact, the only thing he had to look up was the afformentioned calander. Plus, if my understanding is correct, he was some higher up dude who was coincidentaly filling in for someone. Don't know bout that, but think about it. We see a phone from a t-mobile employee with updated firmware, the G2 is coming out in a few days, the MyTouch HD is coming out next month. If there ever was a time to differentiate the MyTouch Slide with Froyo, now would be it (well, next month).

Yeah I don't think we will ever get an official 2.2 update.

This phone was supposed to be T-mobile's baby but is now overshadowed by the G2 and soon to be Mytouch HD.

I still plan on buying nothing but HTC phones in the future as I see this phone as a T-mobile phone built by HTC not an HTC phone built for T-mobile... if that makes sense...... put it this way, HTC didn't even put their name on this thing anywhere other than the battery!

I am just not sure my next phone will be t-mobile. Sure their customer service is good but if their phone service was good you wouldn't need customer service.

LOL wow...where to begin...so much wrong with that post.

First: Nexus 1 is not and was not tmo's baby at all...really it had nothing to do with tmo. they were just a carrier of the phone for google one of many including international carriers. btw htc made it.

Second: It was not short lived at all and is still going strong for many owners and can still be bought by developers trough google.

Third: It does have froyo and it was the first to be upgraded!

We will get Froyo between the end of never and the start of ever...

Waiting for the lame excuses from T-mobile any day now....

"for stability and performance reasons we have decided to leave the Mytouch Slide running on Android Eclair version 2.1. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to continuing to serve our loyal customers...........yadda yadda yadda"

I know now that any lack of update is purely T-mobile........... Hell I even thought of jumping to Sprint for the Epic 4G!
