Hey guys and gals, I've been working on this little project the last couple of days, trying to build a stable blurless ROM that gets as close to the AOSP experience as is currently possible on the Droid X.

Though I've tested this pretty thoroughly, it's still a beta release. Please let me know if you find any bugs!

Changelog

Beta 2: stock Android lockscreen, minimum autobrightness tweaked, system is completely optipng'd and zip-aligned, notification bar is no longer rounded :(

Without further ado:

README
Thanks to: TBH, P3Droid, Beesley, Cyanogen, Pete, et. al

Based on 2.3.15 deodexed
Blur Removed using Tranquility 2.3.7
Further Blur Removed

CyanogenMod 6 Framework Res

3D AOSP Launcher (TranQLauncher)

Optipng'd and Zip-aligned

Goodies:

-Stock Froyo Lockscreen!
-Minimum autobrightness level tweaked
-Build.prop mods
-sysctl.conf mods
-Removed all market apps
-Music Mod by Eliot Stocker
-Neural LWP (Nexus colors)
-Black BG MMS
-AOSP Apps:
->Email
->Car Home
->Clock
->News and Weather
->Gallery3D
-Wireless Tether
-Spare Parts
-Scripts galore

Switchable Apps:

-Music Mod / Stock Music
-Motorola Gallery / Gallery3D

Scripts (much thanks to Pete for the format):

learn the usage by just running the script with no modifiers

-calc
-carhome
-cpuinfo
-dxeye
-email
-gallery
-genie
-launcher
-music
-office
-sound
-tether
-sys

Example:

su
sys

...and it will print what the script does. In this case:

sys -rw
sys -ro

are the two forms, which will either mount the system read/write or read only!

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

(if coming from beta 1, no need to wipe data and cache)

-Please make a backup of your current setup
-Place .zip on sdcard
-Boot into recovery
-go to mounts, wipe system, data, and cache
-mount /system <<<<-- CRUCIAL STEP, don't miss it!
-go back a menu, select install .zip from sd
-find the rom
-install
-profit!

BUGS

That I know of:

-Drop down lists still have white text (buttons do not anymore though)

DOWNLOAD

-I doubt my DropBox will run out of bandwidth, but if it does...IDK. Beta's over? LOL :D

-Link is temporarily removed due to major bug

Suggestions

-Install Droid X Bootstrapper if you use adb (it makes it auto #)
-Go into MusicMod settings and change the notification color (orange by default? Black = FF000000)
-Use Spare Parts and make all transitions fast and enable fancy input animation
-Use the scripts to remove apps you don't use
-Turn off superuser notifications (I find it annoying, anyways)

Very happy to report that all is well so far.

No errors in logcat, and its very crisp.

Thanks!

Downside to musicmod is i cant adjust audio effects... Feels bad :(
Well, not from the app, but you can still adjust audio effects by going into settings, sound, adjust meda effects. I think it's a fair tradeoff :)

If you want to switch back, it's as easy as opening the terminal emulator:

Code:
su
music -mot

Also, I've read some posts on AF about how Wireless Tether is kinda broken in Froyo - how security doesn't work or it may drop the connection. I didn't really test too long last night, but I did stay connected for about 20 mins with WEP and didn't drop my connection. If someone who relies on tethering a little more can chime in with some experiences too, that would be great :)

So, couple questions that may be n00bish but I'm not an android developer, just an IT guy who likes to play with his phone, so bear with me.

- Where is the launcher? I expected the .apk in /system/app after unpacking the zip and it's not there, or at least not named anything I recognized as the launcher. Just curious.

- I kind of wondered what it'd take to change the launcher for these ROMs. I like some of these ROMs but run Launcher Pro, and while I recognize that the stock launcher with no widgets is pretty low-overhead, it just drives a little part of me nuts to know it's running in the background. I have renamed the Blur launcher so it won't start up but I also recognize that, since LP is a user app, if I ever wipe the user data I'm going to have to make sure that I can get a launcher back. I'd rather put LP into the /system.

Probably will go ahead and start with this as my first ROM after the in-laws are done visiting and I have time to play :D

The launcher is in /system/app/TranQLauncher.apk

You can easily "remove" it with the script launcher -rm, and easily restore with launcher -rs.

Works for me as well, don't have a chance to put this on my phone yet, at work but I will later tonight.

Is this going to be any different than using rubiX with vanilla theme? That is what I am currently doing now, just wondering how different it would be.

Thanks

I imagine they'd be a pretty similar experience. Honestly, it's up to you if you like to tinker a lot or not :)

I, personally, don't mind wiping data/cache, but I understand for others it takes a little more motivation.

Yeah it doesn't bother me to wipe my data/cache, I have everything backup anyways. I figured they would be pretty similar, I will download this when I get home and give it a shot.

Thanks again for the everything you have done for the community.

I dont understand the benefit of this over the other ROMs...

What is the benefit/usage of scripts?
Of Android Open Source Project similarity?

Well, all of the ROMs out right now are essentially very similar, as they all stem from the same base and there's only so much of the underlying Blur framework that can be removed.

That being said, this is just another alternative configuration of /system for users to try.

For an advanced user, they can remove bloat and theme their 2.3.15 installation to match any of the ROMs out anyways, this is basically just a shortcut :D

As for scripts, it just makes removing unused apps easier (and a little safer, as there's an easy way to get them right back).

Unrelated, but I'm still trying to think up a name. Suggestions?
