So would this theoretically make the phone run faster?

Would tethering make you go over the 5 gig limit on the so-called "unlimited" data package we had to pay for?

nope not yet

cause of a few bad apples we are down to 2 devs left working on it and one on the fence on if he wants to really come back.

Thank you for the reply and info., I really appreciate it.
I previously searched all over for a custom ROMs for the Android and after reading further, I realized it wasn't for the Eris....Thanks again.

Configuring the device with the installed software and apps, with the included firmware as it is, seems the safest bet, in my opinion. The Eris seems quite well put together to this newbie.

When the next update comes, the much talked about and anticipated 2.0 or 2.1, some will be wanting a way to advance to a "leaked" subsequent update (2.5? 3.0?), I'm almost certain.

Between the pdf user guide and the great tips and tricks section here, along with posted problems and solutions in these threads, I feel no need to hack my new Droid Eris.

Just my $.02 worth.

Yep, warranty of the (end of life) phone does expire upon rooting of said device, as stated in the rooting q&a sticky.
