I've read different places the advantages of buying in store vs over the phone. I always had good experiences over the phone so I figured I'd get the droid thru a phone rep, quick easy and convenient. Also, I never felt like I had any good luck with VZW reps in the store...I always feel like they are ripping me off :-/

Anyways so what do you guys think? Buy in store or Buy over the phone?

I went to the store because I was switching over from Sprint to Verizon and wanted to make sure that it was a smooth transition. (I was moving four phones and we were all four keeping our numbers.)

When I was with Sprint I always ordered online and never had any problems.

I did mine in store. Usually you can work with them and get a better deal.

Like I got my Droid for $125.

I believe i can bargain it down to $50 and i feel that neither the store rep or phone rep will go any lower than that.

Someone mentioned that buying in store allows you to be able to go back the the store and return the device no hassle, but isnt this also the case when ordering over the phone from VZW? it would seem silly for them to want me to ship back the phone to them rather than take it to the closest VZ store for service

This is true- if you buy in-store you can return the same way. Over the phone or online requires shipping the phone back to them.

I usually buy on line because it gives me an instant rebate versus waiting for one in the mail.

I like the store because they always remember that I get a discount on phones and accessories. If I'm not thinking about it at the time, I may miss out if I order over the phone. Ordering online, I have to call back for the credit anyway. The person on the phone always has to check for some reason.

However, I do like that online and over the phone they'll easily bill my account for the purchases. I'm not sure if the stores have changed at all, but when I tried to add charges to the account in the past from a store, there was always some sort of problem.

Best of all, if you can go into the store you don't have to wait ALL DAY for Fedex, as you must sign for your packages from Verizon... even for a battery. Fedex is usually around here pretty early, but with the holidays and all, the delivery man made the "by 3pm" delivery at 2:50pm. lol
