So should I wait around for a Class 6 32gb card?

So I've seen debates on this from prior threads but I will throw it out there again since most of the threads are from July.

I just got a T-Mobile G2 and have a ton of music. I had maxed out my 32GB iPhone so I need space. I've seen a lot of folks say to wait around for a Class 6 or 10 micro SD card that is 32gb in size but doesn't look like they are out there, and I don't want to just wait around for them. All I want to do is put a bunch of music on my device, I'm not looking to do video and other stuff.

Since G2 has Froyo, is there any advantage to waiting around for a Class 6 or higher 32GB card or can I just go ahead and get a Class 2?

I've gone from the Desire's standard 4GB class 2 card to a class 4 16 GB one. I've noticed a bit of speed improvement and kind of better 720 recording. That might just be a feeling though, class 2 doesn't really limit you on anything.

i have read.. by some... slower memory.. as things get full... they start to drag the phone down and force close apps. and there have been many that dont have any issues.

if you plan to use.. apps on SD card... then a faster card is more advisable.

I had to compromise... get 16gb class 6

Im still sporting the original class 2 sdcard but I know someone running a class 6. Biggest difference I noticed was when watching converted DVD's on the phone when you go to fast forward the class 6 card finds the new spot much faster [as expected]. But for using the camera, even 720p recording the class 2 is just good enough

I JUST got a 32 gb sd card from ebay, specifically China, for 14 bucks. I'm transferring music onto it now and it's taking forever. But for $14.00 you can't really complain.

Thank god for cheap hardware from the far east.

No need for a Class 6. Even a Class 4 isn't really needed, as a Class 2 isn't giving you a bottleneck. The Class speed is the write speed, so it might help with recording video, but the Class makes no difference to read speeds, which it sounds like you are worried about for listening to music. I'm using the Class 2 16GB that came in my phone, and it plays back DVD rips just fine, and that's a lot higher bitrate than just music.

My 16GB Class 2 SanDisk card writes at 4MB/s and reads at 6MB/s.

If you already maxxed out a 32gb iPhone then even a 32gb micro SD card isn't going to give you room to grow. As for the speed, unless you're doing a lot of video on your phone I doubt you'll really see a whole lot of performance improvement.

On the other hand, Amazon is selling a class 6 card for $123... pricey considering the brand!

consider yourself lucky it even works!

^This. Your phone can't write fast enough to make a difference, even if you had a really fast card. If you unmount the card and mount it to the pc to swap your music, and need it done marginally more quickly, then spend big money. If it doesn't matter, then buy a class 2 from a REPUTABLE manufacturer, you will probably get class 4 writing speeds anyway.
