App Turning on Data at Scheduled Intervals?

JuiceDefender are not bad, it could turn on and off the data connections automatically for you following the rules you set. How you set the rules decides how it acts, so you should give more consideration when you set the rules.

And what's more, in fact, if you use the battery save mode to the phone, it will turn off the data connection automatically for you when you don't use the data connection more than 30 minutes.

Giving tasker a shot but can't figure out the "every 15 minutes" portion of the task. Lil' help?

In your time context setup you enter a start and end time and there is a box you can check for repeat, you need to put every 15 min for the repeat.

For example I have auto sync set up for 5am to 505am with repeat every 6 hours. So my phone auto syncs for 5 minutes at 5am, 11am, 5pm, and 11pm. Plus tasker will do this even if you reboot after the first one runs, so if I reboot between 5 and 11am my phone still syncs at the other scheduled times.

Okay. So say I want to sync every 15 minutes from 8pm to 4am every Friday and Saturday, to save battery when I'm out. The rest of the time it can always be on. Can I create one profile that turns it off during those times and a second profile that has priority which will turn it on every 15 minutes and override the one saying to turn it off?

I think so, you may need to set the collision handling to make sure that the sync task executes. You do this in your task list there is a tool button at the bottom, that will bring up a menu that includes collision handling. I am not sure how exactly this will work since I haven't tried it, but you should be able to get it set up with a little trial and error.

I think I found it. Under properties for the profile I changed the ones that turned it on to a 6 priority and the ones to turn it off are a 5 priority. Will that take care of it?

Priorities in Tasker have to do with tasks, not profiles. In the event that multiple tasks are queued (i.e. several profiles become active at once), higher priority tasks will execute first. This is has not the same as having one profile override another.

Profiles take priority based on which one executed last. Let's say you have a profile that turns Wifi off when you place your device in a car dock, and another profile that turns Wifi on when you're at home. If you're at home with Wifi on, and insert your device in the car dock, Wifi will turn off, even though you are still at home. If you are out driving with your device in the car dock with Wifi off, when you arrive home Wifi will turn on, even though the device is still docked.

If this is not the behavior you want, you can add an Inverted Car Dock context to your home profile (so it will only be active if you're at home AND not docked), so when you arrive home, Wifi won't turn on until you remove the device from the car dock.

I'm such a Tasker dime bar. I can turn WiFi on when I open the browser, but i can't turn on APN when I open the browser.

Somebody help please.......

If you're having trouble with Mobile Data APN, make sure you've got APNdroid installed, or try Mobile Data (without APN). It can take a little bit for the connection to be established.

Also, if you're using Android 2.2 (or higher, for anyone reading this months from now), Mobile Data must be enabled in your Android settings in order for Tasker to be able to control it.
