I switched from the DInc to the X a few months ago and the only thing I've been missing is the HTC interface. I've read a lot about LauncherPro but thought it wasn't what I was looking for... well it was. Yesterday I downloaded it due to the TOP 5 APPLICATIONS thread had many listing it. Well, for those that want more customization on top of the Android operating system I recommend checking this out as the free version will help you decide.

I know this looks like spam but I felt this application... WHAT CAN I SAY... IT COMPLETES ME!

:D

P.S. I uninstalled my task killer based on similar forum responses

I hopped on the Launcher Pro boat the other day and I love it as well. I came for the app drawer app hiding and stayed for the better looking dock, home screen customizations, and notification bar hiding. This app does more than I could have imagined and I use nearly every feature :D Though I made the mistake of ordering the paid version on the weekend and I won't get my unlock key till the payment clears, probably monday morning. Why can't he just use Google Checkout; PayPal blows.

Great video. I think in order to purchase your first Android device you should have to watch an informational video that includes this, as well as other materials that explain the Android process. Task killers are used by people accustomed to Windows (like me when I first got my Droid) devices. With Windows more free memory = awesome. Coming to Android it's very hard for people to comprehend that Android is based on a system that utilizes free memory to help the whole process run faster and smoother.

Now, I will concede that Android devices haven't traditionally been fast, smooth running devices per say, but this is a brand new technology, and just like any new technology it needs time to polish itself and clean itself up around the edges. It's been on the consumer market for 2 years, so it's very young indeed. As it matures the glitches, lag time, FC's and all those types of things will no doubt improve as it continues to refine itself.

But an important part of the entire process is that the consumer understands the fundamental differences that separate this technology from the existing technologies already on the market. It's not a regurgitation of Windows or Apple, it is based on Linux which not a whole lot of people are used to. Trying to use it like a Windows or Apple device however is not going to give the end user the experience they are looking or hoping for.
