Help Gps app?

Hi... can someone recommend a GPS application that makes the Droid X more like a standard GPS with a list of favorites, recent locations, etc...

Maybe a drop down list of cities/towns/streets, etc like a GPS has too.

I do sales calls and when I had a Garmin, I would punch in all my addresses for the day in the morning and then use the recent address list to navigate for the day. It is especially important when I have a client in the car and don't want to fumble w the keys.

If it does not exist, any clues on how to be more efficient with this would help. Thanks!

Here's a suggestion...

On each work day, before you leave for your appointments, log into your Google account (same as the GMail account on your phone) on your web browser (home or work), search for each address in Google and then star the location from Google maps. Google will then sync this data with the Google Maps on your phone. You should then be able to select it from the Starred locations in your phones Google Maps application. To keep things simple simply delete the starred location from the previous day and they won't show up in Google Maps anymore.

Someone needs to invent a GPS Ap that works like a Garmin/Tom Tom, etc... The DX is supposed to make life easier.

You could try CoPilot or Telenav to see if they do what you want.

Well, if you think that way, why dont you go ask Garmin to release a GPS with phone, camera, and MP3 playback abilities....

Come on now, be reasonable...its a phone first and foremost...the fact it can do more does not preclude it to be able to do more better than the stand alone devices it mimics...

Yep...exactly why I made my post in reference to Garmin...the nuvifone has not set any fires on the Phone front or the GPS front as well. I wonder why...and then I come to the same conclusion about this phone as I would about the X not being a true GPS device....Garmin started out with a GPS and added in phone and camera components...and its still not the best device for either function.

The X is a phone first, and a damn fine one I must say, call quality on the caller and receiver ends have been spectacular so far from most reviews. Then the camera, GPS and MP3 player were layered in to give each as much as the device could in order to meet basic and some advanced functions...not ALL functions though. A Nikon is still a better digital camera than the 8mp camera on the X...an iPod is still a better MP3 player than the stock Android MP3 player, and unfortunately, a TomTom or a Garmin is still going to be a better GPS than the X...

I LOVE the GPS on the X...not sure why people are really complaining about it (and I have a nice Garmin as well as a built in GPS in my car but still use my X.)

To get back on topic, you should be able to enter the addresses before you leave...they will still be in the system when you start Navigator - I'm talking about using Google Navigator, not VZW. Then you can just select whichever address you've entered that morning. I don't know if there is a limit as to how many "recently used' addresses there are, though.

The search saves recent entries. I'll punch in a few before I go somewhere that way they are in the search history. Or I'll just star them in GMaps online like Martimus stated and find them that way.

I tried this but must be missing something. I have locations starred on my maps. When I pull up google, local on my phone and select starred locations, it says I have not starred locations. Not sure what step I am missing.

The account you are starring them in, it is the same account you are signed into on your phone?

I don't star but I do use the places app and it keeps my list. Also nice thing about contact list, always available from the navigation menu.

However only thing I wish Google would do, is allow storing of map data on the phone. Course that might put the nuvifone out of the market all together.
