Root What are the Benifits of Rooting my EVO?

I'm considering Rooting my device but I'm not too sure what the benifits of this are. The EVO seems to be pretty open sourced as it is and I can get free app from 4share.com so i'm not sure rooting my device is that beneficial. Can someone give me a reason why I would want to do this.

I've been enjoying DDG for last few months, I really prefer it to google (though I go back on occasion). Gabriel is also excelent when it comes to responding to feedback like problems with search results, he tweaks his algorithms when problems are found. Happened a few times.

In the end of it, there has been many many many many many <add a few many's here> discussions of benefits of rooting.

Only down side: You gotta pay attention to certain things. Keep it STOCK ROOTED if you don't want to care about the internal's of everything and just want to do wifi tethering and stuff.

I could have googled or DDG or whatever you guys use but I wanted to get some intelegent opinions. I guess I was wrong to start a thread here. I'm glad I got a stupid response for using search engines. Didn't know this place was full of middle school and high school kids. I've hacked my IPOD and there are obvious benefits but not to sure with the EVO and yes I have googled it.

Dude, take it down a thousandth. Your question was answered along with poking just a bit of fun your way. Trust me, there are other forums where you would have been completely roasted for posting this thread.

Folks here are very helpful and answer many of the same questions over and over and over and over again. Sometimes it helps to let a little steam off in a gentle way.

If you had taken a few minutes to use the search function and use your title as the keywords (benefits of rooting) and focused your search on the EVO section you would have gotten about 2 pages of threads that deal with this very issue.

Also, no one here made any comment about your intelligence or maturity either. From what I can tell most folks here are well into adulthood and may actually have kids in middle/high school. Think about that next time before you go throwing around the "stupid kids" stuff. These are the same "stupid kids" who are the ones to go to for help when you have trouble with your root.

Your right i could have been roasted and yes maybe I should have looked more and found the sticky thread was most helpful. I just found it a little ridiculous and immature about a google and DDG post. Just wanted to poke some fun back and im not mad. Guess I stirred the pot to much. Sorry if I offened anyone.
