Help Screen Issues when calling!!

When I make a call, the screen comes off.
i've noticed two things..
if i have the headset plugged into my phone, the screen wont go off
also, if i go under the sun-yes, the sun light, i can see the screen

any recommendations/suggestions on why this is happening?

Its because of the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor on the left hand side of the Verizon logo. If your using a headset your not putting the phone next to your ear so the sensor is still seeing light and will not turn off the screen. Its probably the same for your sun problem.
