Help Battery Life?!

My samsung fascinate battery is WAY better than my old incredible, but still will only last me till like 2-3pm before I have to charge it. I do alot of gtalk with my lady and some other friends, but I was curious....

I only have 3 widgets. I have setcpu to help me a little(yes, I'm rooted running jt's 1.2 overclocked kernal), and my autokiller and ATK help kill programs. I tried that juicedefender/ultimatejuicer but it shuts off my data completely when the screen goes into sleep, which cannot happen lol

Who has good ways to make my battery last longer?

Ive noticed this as well. I stay on gTalk alllll day. That seems to be a big battery drainer.

On days im off work and with my wife, i do not use gTalk and my phone lasts almost twice as long without needing a charge.

Oh, and that kernel will decrease your battery faster than anything else. Its the price you pay for being fast :)

Well if you use jt's 1.2kernal that does run above stock voltage which will give you even more battery drainage. Dirrk has some low voltage kernels out as well. But of course you cannot have it both ways. The SF is good for 5-6hours of non-stop, screen on usage. How often you send and receive data will affect battery life. How bright you screen is will affect battery life. I have the screen brightness at its lowest setting. I dont use live wallpaper anymore. All this helps a little. Bottom Line if you spend more than 30 minutes per hour using the device its not going to make it thru the day.

Here's what I would do:

Use Juice Defender:p, sorry if it's not an option for you.

Get rid of ATK. It's killing tasks that will automatically start right up... thus using more battery. Task killers are not needed, despite what Verizon reps have told you;)

I wouldn't OC to 1.2. I know faster is better, but if you're not lacking speed, i would leave it as is. That drains a lot of battery.

Set profiles in SetCPU to underclock while screen is off.

Also, I never liked autokiller either, but dont know thta much about it.

Try running your phone for a few days with these tips. I suspect you'll get at least a little more life out of your battery

Yeah sending and receiving data is a big drainer. On Sundays and to some extent Saturdays I spend all day watching football. I have espn radio streaming one game, I also have score center tracking the others [and yes Im watching tv as well]. But yeah I can burn thru 15-20% of my battery per hour doing this. I mean screen is lit and consistent and constant data transmission.

And as per you and your GTalking:

I think ive seen you mention JuiceDefender before. Talk to us about this. I just downloaded it. Does it really do anything substantial?

Good points all.
I concur on the no ATK.
I do have an use AutoKiller. I use the lowest setting of moderate and its fine for me.
The Conservative setting of SetCPU will throttle the cpu down to as low as 100Mhz so that does help a lot with battery life when you dont use the device.
A lot of people have found the phone faster with the voodoo fix. I can confirm that the voodoo fix was more of a boost to my experience than the 1.2Ghz OC was [of course now we have both].
Dirrk's 1200 low voltage kernel hasnt been as stable as jt's since jt uses more voltage. Again, you can have the power or you can have the extra battery but rarely can you have both. *Although there is a kernel for the Epic that runs 50mV less than stock at 1.2Ghz

It basically turns off your phone ability to send and receive data for so many minutes per hour and stuff like that. You still get any and all calls and texts but your email will only come thru in like 2 minute windows every 15 minutes. Honestly I tried it week 1 with my SF and uninstalled it. I manage my own battery just as well. I dont have any of my email sync'd I check it if I wanna know. I keep wifi and gps off unless Im using it. I mean it depend on your usage. For me it was not helpful but if you get a lot of email then yes it could help you quite a bit. As aforementioned, data transmission is a real battery drainer

About 90% of my emails are from this site. haha

I checked it out, but i do not like how it kills my 3G without my permission. So, uninstall.

Good thought, but its not worth the small amount of battery it may/may not save for me.

It does several things. But the one that I believe helps the most on my phone is only turning 3g on for 1 minute every 15, so that emails can be pushed through.
As Saps stated, everything else still works. Texts, calls, etc. And this is only when your phone isn't in use.
If you dont need instant email updates, then I think it's helpful.
If your phone is just sitting untouched for say 2 hours, while at work, then 3g service was only on for 8 minutes.

I have noticed significant improvement on my battery life... but your mileage may vary;)

Lol, Gtalk is a need, the lady has to have some way to complain to me when I'm not with her:). I figured the battery wasn't able to do what i'm asking of it. Even my blackberry didn't last me a full day, but I figured someone might have a cool option I havent tried. As for not OC'ing, no way! i love it faster lol. But I will try the ATK thing and see how that works out for me. Thanks guys, keep em coming?!

Im rooted, purely for the ability to remove bing and unwanted bloatware. I get a good 8 hours it I use GTalk a lot. If I dont I get between 24 and 30 hours.

As for OCing I dont see the point on a device like this. I had an Eris and you bet your ass I OCd it. lol. But this phone I see no need for Over Clocking.

Im currently running an OverClocked/UnderVolted kernel. So Im at 1.2Ghz, 20% more than stock of course but also my cpu voltage is only 1250mV versus the 1300mV of stock. Now some might look at 1250 vs 1300 and say well thats only 4% thats not much. But its not a linear relationship, its an exponential relationship. Im only on my first full day of testing this kernel but Im venturing a guess than by reducing my cpu voltage by those 50mV Im actually going to see over 20% better battery life. I know when I ran a 1325mV OC kernel and I definitely saw worse battery life by 8-10% easily. So it might not be straight math but it seems based on deduction and real world testing that per my average usage for every 25mV I increase or decrease my cpu voltage I realize a 10% battery life difference.
Now for those who care there is a 1225mV 1Ghz kernel out there. I tested it and it was stable for me. This would theoretically give you the same speed as the stock phone but potentially 30% better battery life. Not to mention you get the added bonus of the voodoo lag fix, which gives an additional performance boost
