Help Receiving Email

Hello all -
Just got my Evo over the weekend. Love it!!

Recently my desktop crashed and I lost some of my email (backup 1 week old). I was getting email from 4 different account on Outlook. I like the idea of an online email app that can fetch mail from other accounts (Gmail). I realize it's not as feature rich as Outlook but maybe it would do. Online access to all my accounts in one place and everything stored online. Is this common practice or most people wouldn't do this?
(Evo content):
When setting up the Evo to receive mail, what are most people doing to get mail from multiple accounts. Using Gmail to fetch all the mail and just have a Gmail account set up on their phone? Or is it better to set up multiple accounts on the phone?
Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Jamie

Thanks for you reply. So you have you Hotmail and university mail forwarding to Gmail and don't have Gmail "fetching" the mail from Hotmail and edu? Is there a reason (just curious)?
I read that through Gmail you can send from your other accounts (custom From field). Can you do that if you have you other accounts forwarded to Gmail or does Gmail have to be set up to retrieve the mail from the other accounts first?

Thank again for any help!

So obviously you're content as using Gmail as your main email app (vs Hotmail, Outlook or whatever other email app you've used)?
Did you ever have multiple email account installed on your phone?
I had it like that on my Blackberry but there was a "catch all" folder where all messages would go, then also separate folders for each account.
Thanks again for your time.

Can't pick and choose which account I send from on the phone however you can while on gmail full site through browser or on desktop. You can set up gmail via desktop to reply from original receiving addy....that way when you respond receiver sees that it came from the addy they sent to.
So you just have your gmail account setup on your phone? Are you able to send from any of your accounts weather fron a PC or from your phone?
Thanks.

Thanks again for your reply. Sorry if I'm repetitive but I just want to be sure I understand you correctly. Although you cannot pict which address you send from on your phone, but gmail can be configured (from a internet enabled pc) to automatically reply fronm the address the email came to, weather you are replying from the web interface OR yor phone?
Thanks!
