I am so frustrated right now, i don't even know what to type. So im going to just ramble on and hope someone can offer a solution!

So i have received my 3500 from hong kong (the $10 one off ebay) and did a full charge with phone off last night. Today i turned it on and turned on gps, turned on trillian, turned on mp3 player, and read newsrob for about 40min. Screen is on 50%. Not a single phone call, and never opened the browser!

Im down to 71%! The phone isnt even unplugged for 3 friggin hours!! uptime 2:57, awake time: 2:05 (it didnt sleep because i had music playing from mp3 player, not streaming though)

I also have SetCPU with screen-off profile to 455/245 .. shouldnt this by itself offer insane battery benefit? Why is it not working as it logically should?

Okay granted, for half of the time i was underground in a subway with no signal, and i purposely did not turn on airplane mode just to test this battery out. I also left data ON (as apposed to turning it off with Juicedefender when i shut the screen). But the entire reason i rooted, and keep testing all these apps and batteries is because i don't want to turn things on and off!! I want to just pick up my phone and go without having to worry about my settings at all.

So i bought this battery because i saw many people (not just 1 or 2) bragging about multiple day uptime, and insane awake time when using a 3500. I thought if they can do 3 or 4 days uptime, and like 24hrs awake, i can surely do 18hrs uptime, 8-10hrs awake with heavy heavy use! My expectation was less than half of what other people were reporting, i thought that was realistic.

So now i have vented. Do i have a faulty device? Faulty battery? Am i just a moron??

Will this battery shape up after a few charge cycles maybe?

Im sorry about this stupid post, i know it sounds ridiculous "omgz i left everything on and my batteryz is died" ... but i really am at the point of wanting to strap a car battery on my back just so i can forget about settings altogether.

Hopefully someone can relate, or offer an answer. And hopefully i dont get flamed too bad lol

PS, no i dont want to switch to a dumb phone, or an iphone, or any other such solution. I love my DI to death.

I didn't buy an ebay 3500, but I do have the Seidio one and it took a couple full charges/discharges (yuck) to really be dependable. I've had it a week now and I pulled it off the charger 2 nights ago (around 10pm Monday) and I'm at 42%. that's with moderate use (and I didn't bump charge it that night either). give it a few cycles before you throw in the towel. Just my opinion...

Thanks for your feedback, going to run this down to 0 today and do it all over again tonight i guess

I hope it does get better.

BTW my intention is to buy the Seido but wanted to try this one just for the size. How was your Seido acting on day 1? as bad as mine above?

found the problem.

no but really, you get what you pay for. I have the 2150 and once its fully charged i can stream pandora all day, use internet and bluetooth and still be at around 50% by the end of the day.

not saying its a totally crappy battery, it might get better after a couple of recharges but truthfully i doubt its truly a 3500...

that would make some sense. you used the phone quite a bit for 2 solid hours. Its going to eat battery, browser or not

not really insane. maybe a little better

this will run a battery down fast. if you have no signal the phone will continuously try to get one and that kills the battery. use airplane mode.

you bought a cheap battery that is no where close to actual mah. i bet you its like 2500 maybe.

I have some doubts about airplane mode on this phone with 2.2. I've been using it a lot since I've been travelling, and every day that I travel the battery drains fast, even if the phone is in airplane mode much of the time. Makes me feel like it is still trying to get a signal at 35,000 feet even though it's supposed to have all radios off.

Try this tip taken from here:

Charging the battery with the power off will definitely see an improvement in up time... This is a product of the issues with the Incredible's charge circuitry and not the battery itself.

After you charge with the phone powered off and get the green light, unplug the cable, wait for the light to go out, and plug it right back in until green again.. You can repeat this one more time if you want, and have the time. This simulates the "leave on the charger for an extra 3-4 hours after indicator says it's full" that's suggested by Seidio on the box and website...

I know this is basically "Bump" charging, and the charging issues have been posted here before, but I figured I would post it again so people wouldn't have to comb through every page...
I am hearing a lot of great things about the 3500 mah battery. I am thinking of getting it. rasrno, if it isn't too much to ask can you take some pictures of what your phone looks like now with the extended battery cover on it?

I hate to even say the word, or make the comparison ... but considering the size of this battery i have to assume its much more capable than the one in the iphone, no? I have no idea what battery that has ...

But adding a beefy battery, and using setCpu to govern the cpu during down times, shouldddddd give me at least acceptable battery life regardless if im searching for a signal, or playing mp3's ... i would think.

Obviously im wrong though, so no idea why i even typed that haha

How does the added bulk and weight feel when the phone is in your hands? How does it feel when you are typing a message or making a phone call? Is it taxing on your hands? Uncomfortable?

I have heard from customer reviews that it actually feels great. Some people said it actually fits and feels better in your hands that the OEM battery back cover.

the extended batteries feel awesome in your hands i have the seidio and it is a much more solid feel and u don't have to worry about scratching the camera since it is recessed... and the added battery life is awesome. for once i don't have to walk on glass to keep it going a full day.

Agree. You get what you pay for. I have bought the ebay batteries or the cheap knockoffs before and I always find myself regretting for doing so. And from experience, these batteries do not get better with time. If anything they will get worse.

If I could suggest anything is to just buy the real deal and stop punishing yourself with needless worries. I finally bought the 2150 a few months back after trying this and that and all I can say is that this battery is solid. I stream music for 2 hours a day at the gym and average about 4 hours of phone calls a day and my battery still makes it through the day with 10% left just before I go to sleep.

I agree with this completely. I think you bought a battery that's not really a 3500. A lot of the ebayers from Hong Kong sell crap that's not really what they claim it is. It may be a 1700 that they've just printed 3500 on the label and sold it as a 3500. The Seido 3500 sells for about $40 on Amazon. If you're getting it for $10 you've likely got a counterfeit battery.

Obviously it's not 3500 but that's not really the point is it?

And seidio batteries are way worse than anything you can order off ebay, so give that a rest please.

Truth is, it's not the battery it's the phone. Some days it decides to behave and I get a lot of life out of it, some days it wants to drain ultra fast. There's no explaining it for sure. I speculate it's either got hidden processes running or is misreading the battery and telling me it's dead when it's not.

I tend to get 2 days out of it before it's orange/red levels and I recharge. No bump charging. 2 hours of slacker radio per day, 2 hours of surfing and other usage per day. Standby eats the rest.

When I had the standard battery I couldn't go a full day, for comparison, even with less use than the above.

actually you are completely off base with that statement. the Seidio batteries are consistantly around 80-85%% of their rated value while cheapos off ebay range from 55% of rated capacity to maybe just over 80% of the rated capacity.

Is your current experience of battery life based on the 3500 from ebay?

No, it's very much the point. If you buy a battery that's not a 3500, you can't expect to get the performance you'd expect out of a 3500. It's like taking a can of sauerkraut and labeling it "peaches." You open the can and you're pissed that it's not peaches. Well, you didn't buy peaches.

And seidio batteries are way worse than anything you can order off ebay, so give that a rest please.

Says who? The 3500 gets a 4 star rating on Amazon. You think that's worse than a cheap knockoff that's probably a 1300 or worse?

The phone has battery issues. No argument there. But my point is still valid. If you buy a crap battery it shouldn't surprise you that you get crap performance out of it and it's ridiculous to blame the phone because you're getting crap performance out of your crap battery.

You won't get me to buy anything from Seidio now, they have already had one of their batteries shown to be a scam, or at least crap.
