Hello people. I am interested in rooting my evo. My screen has a massive spider web in it (cracks). My replacement came yesterday. I would like to transfer info from da broken one to the new one. Should I root the replacement before transferring?

Thanks in advance for any and all help provided.

No, don't mess with the old phone. And what would you like to transfer exactly? As long as you have a google account all your contacts are saved with it, so when you sign into the new phone you will have everything. Apps you cannot transfer. Pictures/Videos/Music are all saved to the SD card and can transfer via a computer in 2 clicks.

it was covered pretty well in your other post.

sync gmail on old phone
back up apps only (not data) using titanium or mybackup
copy the contents of your sd card to your desktop..clean up as needed
root your new phone
install rom and kernel of choice
transfer over content from you sd card that you backed up
dload titanium/mybackup and install your backed up apps preferably one at a time in case there are issues.
nadroid backup

enjoy your new phone! don't break this one!
