Help EXTREME lagginess

Hey guys,

Ok so I adore my fascinate so very very much. It is nearly the perfect device, although I do notice some VERY slow bits that im not sure how to fix or even if they are fixable. The number one problem im having is shortcuts. I hold the screen and select shortcuts. Once its selected, it takes a good 15-20 seconds before the next screen comes up (Applications, bookmarks, ect.). Now with bookmarks and various other selections, its PRETTY quick (Still a bit to slow for my liking, but its whatever), however when selecting applications, it takes upward of 1 minute or more.

Now its not THAT big of a deal, but im not sure if its because I have a decent amount of applications or simply a flaw with the device, hell it might even be the software. But regardless, coming from an ipod touch as a similar device, I miss the zippiness of it. So is there any way to fix this in an easy way (Im techno stupid) or is it truly a software problem that will more than likely be fixed in froyo? Or is it just something that needs to be done via root (Something I want to try, but also avoid at the same time)?

The more apps you have the longer that takes to open up when setting dock icons. A lot of that has to do with the terrible filesystem samsung put on this thing. If you are willing to root and take things to the next level you want to put the voodoo EXT4 filesystem on their. That will improve you zippiness noticeably.

Don't be intimidated. 20 minutes after you start the process you will be up and running. Voodoo is a must, your call on whether you want an OverClocked Kernel. Although I do vigorously recommend the kernels since they are also undervolted and your battery life will improve substantially. Lets just start with getting you on the voodoo.

Any thoughts on how doing this would affect the installation of Froyo when it comes out? Would I have to roll back to stock and wait for the xda folks to do their magic again?

And thats the question. Now for the record voodoo can be uninstalled and if you dont get impatient and do it right its not an overwhelming process. I dont know enough to say if the current build will work with Froyo or whether we'll get v.3. Someone more knowledgeable than me will have to give the technical answer
