Layar now available

I've been waiting for it. Just opened the Market a couple hours ago, and there it is in the featured apps, to my surprise. There's nothing around me to test it out, but I'll get to that tomorrow.

It's another Augmented Reality app. Meaning, it uses the cool features of the Droid, compass, camera, etc., and overlays various "Layars" which display their respective info over the camera view. Wikipedia, Layar/Google, didn't look at the other ones it had available.

Best AR app I've used so far is Goggles. So freaking cool, and works like a charm.

yeah just downloaded the app but can i get so more info bout how to use it.

The layers need a better description, but basically you go somewhere and choose a layer, such as wikipedia or tweet one. Hold the phone up so you see an overlay on your view and depending where you are, there will be a visual tag of a landmark, or a geotagged twitter post. Another one would be, hey where is this place? Use the Layar search or yellowpages, type in a name or category, it'll overlay those positions. I'd expect some cooler ones to be developed. I read about one which will show what new buildings will look like, or even historic cities/landscapes looked like.
