So the OTA update bricked my phone.. so i used odin and manually applied it myself... and my gps Still takes several minutes to lock on... it sees around 10-12 and only locks onto 5-7 at most....
is anyone else experiencing no improvements in the gps area?

are there any fixes that i can do to help the gps improve? i rely heavily on my gps at work.. and this glitchy signal and thinking im 500 meters away is very annoying..

Are you kidding?

You lock onto 5-7 sats.

I did not get the update yet, and i see 12-15 sats but only lock onto 1-2-3 sats, if any.

And most of the time it takes 3-5 minutes to lock on.

Anyone finding it impossible to delete bloatware after this update? I've re-rooted, and still cant delete bloatware! I hate it, because this bloatware runs in the background and drains the crap out of my battery. Why does Amazon, Daily Briefing, Email, GPS Test, Media Hub, Task Manager and Telenav feel like they need to re-start every time I stop the application? It drives me f'n nutts! My battery went from 36 hours to barely managing 12 hours! I'm loosing my mind here.

Mine is less than ideal. Takes minutes to lock on, and sometimes it doesn't lock on at all. If I kill all the "bloat applications" and then re-start the gps, it seems to work. But I think that's excessive for a smooth-running gps.

Drove 2 hours to Rhode Island today. Used the Vibrant GPS. Locked on, and it almost seemed AS SOON as I hit Rhode Island, the entire unit failed to navigate. Thank God the DOT still has signs on the highways!

Not happy with the "GPS fix".

i didn't root until after this update but i am able to remove the bloatware. another option to try if you haven't is to use 'startup auditor' or another similar app to keep them from even starting, and restarting, and restarting...

I'm going to give that a shot. Thanks, I didn't know that kind of app existed.

I'm still not pleased with having all that bloatware. The more and more it sinks, I'm thinking I need to get a different Vibrant. Seems everything that can go wrong HAS in my case....But I do appreciate the learning experience. Thanks Samsung!

All gripes aside, thanks again for the suggestion. I really do appreciate it.

I've tried every single fix out there on different modems and my GPS still blows nuts. Takes about 30 seconds to lock on and i can't use it to save my life! my blue arrow stays on the street i'm on for a few seconds then jumps off into a nearby freeway or something and keeps moving around. seems to get every location where i'm NOT. Either that or it's accurate then just stops in it's tracks until i restart google maps again. I'm starting to think mine is a hardware problem but i really don't wanna get a new unit in risk of getting a hardware locked and/or larger NAND chip.....sigh....i love my vibrant but i'm never buying a samsung product again...i really wanted that galaxy tab too...o well.

I can't speak for the GPS fix, but I had root and OCLF on mine before the update. I uninstalled the OCLF beforehand, and my phone was "bricked" (not really though, as installing the official OTA .tar through Odin fixed me up). I would strongly advise you to uninstall OCLF, unroot, and remove the GPS fix before you install the update. The update fixes your GPS anyway, so you should remove that regardless. Basically get your device back to stock other than the regular apps that you have. Should be OK then. If not, post back and I'll let you know how to get your device back up and running within about 10 minutes.

i got a notificatiom saying i recieved the ota update and im ready to install it. I hit okay and it started it reached 100 percent and then it said update failed and rebooted. It got stuck on the vibrant screen so i took out the battery. I put it back and tried starting it up and it still freezes on the vibrant screen. I hear the tmobile music but it never changes. I tried deleting my cache and user data by holding the volume keys amd power button to go to the yellow font menu
