Samsung Epic 4G now $99.99 at Amazon.com with new 2 year contract

Price dropped this morning, disappeared for a while showing not in stock and now back up for $99.99 for a new 2 year contract only.

Also, until Midnight on Oct 18th they are offering free activation in the form of a credit for each line activated!

Are there any drawbacks from ordering through Amazon? Can you still go to Sprint stores for replacements if there is anything wrong with the phone? Or do you need to return it through Amazon? Also, do you order the phone from Amazon and than get it activated through Sprint? Just curious how the process would work if I ordered the phone through Amazon.

WTF i just bought this phone on amazon yesterday

I had our order in the cart the night before thinking they wouldn't drop below $149 but didn't order because our rep at our local Sprint store wanted to see if he could work with us on the price. Thing is, that guy keeps promising us he'll work with us but every other Sprint store we've been in says no way!

I logged into Amazon yesterday and it said the Epic wasn't available. No price or anything. I checked my cart and it said $99 for all 3 phones I'd put in there (2x Epics and 1x Transform) but the total still said $399.99. It wouldn't let me check out.

Later I was on slickdeals.net (an AWESOME site) and saw someone post that Amazon had them back in stock at $99.99 for a new contract so I jumped on the deal. Even if the guy at the Sprint store could work with us on the price, I couldn't imagine in a million years we'd walk out of the store only paying $299.97 for 3 phones with no mail in rebate.

Within the first 30 days, you must deal with the place you got your phone from. So within that period, no, you can't go in to Sprint for replacements. (This was confirmed to us by a rep in the Sprint Store in the Mall of America on Saturday).

After the 30 days, yes, you can go to a Sprint store if you have an issue with the phone that is covered by Sprints warranty.

Not sure about what happens with the activation....obviously we haven't received ours yet. We will need Sprint to port our numbers over as Amazon.com don't do this for Sprint currently.

The activation fee is placed on the bill by Amazon as a credit so presumably it shows up on there initially. Not sure when they take that off.

I've dealt with Amazon's customer service before when returning an LCD TV that had a blown pixel. I was just 1 pixel and they sent UPS to pick it up the day after I reported it. I had a new TV within a few days. That also had a blown pixel and they again picked it up and refunded me before UPS even got the TV back to them (but I think they're supposed to wait so not sure why I got my refund so quickly).

With us buying 2x Epics and 1x Transform, for us to walk out of Sprint with them right now it would cost us $950. Yes we'd get $300 back in a mail in rebate....probably after Christmas. This time of year just doesn't allow us to spend out that kind of money....hence us jumping all over the Amazon deal and walking away only spending $299.97. I guess I can deal with having to return the phone to them for the sake of saving that much money right now.

All the sprint stores are giving out phones from september or maybe even october build dates. I believe amazon is offering such a low price because they seem to be trying to empty out their stock they couldn't sell or something. This is just my own opinion. My phone is having the slight bit of oreo effect and firmware is stuck on DG17 and it cant find any update to newer firmwares. Working with Sprint to fix it. If it didn't get updated, I am returning my phone to Amazon and see if they would ship me something slightly newer.

Just ordered me an Epic and a the "better-half" a Intercept for the grand total of $100.00. Most of the phones have free 2-Day shipping. We are porting from Verizon and Sprint is offering $100 for each line ported from another carrier until 12/31. So after 61 days I will have a $200 credit on my bill making the Epic FREE and a free month of service.

I was wondering the same thing, but I just got an e-mail from Amazon telling me what the numbers will be for the phones. When I get the phones (Oct. 20) I am going to take them to the local Sprint store before I activate them and see if they can port my numbers over.

When I receive the phones to just call Customer Service and they will port the number to the phone.
