Am I following the wrong forum?

I have been lurking here a lot, but I come under the impression that everything here is for a GSM Desire. Is there a forum here for the CDMA devise?

Actually, as far as I know (and I'm no expert) this forum covers everything. I think GSM desire information just tends to be posted more as the CDMA versionis rarer. But it shouldn't really matter anyway as the software is more or less the same. So 99% of advice given should apply to both versions. I would have thought only really really techical stuff to do with cell bands and stuff that I have no idea about would be specific, but they are never really discussed anyway. So most stuff metioned here like wallpapers, sense UI, rooting, apps, wifi etc should still apply to both :)

From what I understand the CDMA is a US kind of thing and most here seem to be across the big pond. Comming from the HTC Touch Pro 2, I know on that phone I should always stay away from the GSM version of anything except apps. Putting a GSM rom on a CDMA phone would cause it to be bricked, and made useless. The same went with unlocking it, there was 2 of them also. But since they don't seem to separate the two version of the Desire, I was just wondering if the same holds true?

I read the Moving all apps thread you wrote, looks pretty simple. Will try it out once I can upgrade to 2.2

Yup. I know some about it all. America uses different cell bands or frequencies to Europe / Asia. As such, you get Europe GSM versions and American CDMA versions of devices. So yes, I suppose rooting using a GSM rom would probably not work. But most advice here should still apply.

And thanks. I made my guide hoping it would be pretty simple.Very useful for 2.2 users.

Now if HTC/US Cellular would just get off their butts and update my phone to 2.2 I would be happy. The rep I talked to said it should happen by the end of this month, as they are releasing 4 new android phones. (new to USCC that is). I am looking closely at that. I bought the Desire off eBay so I wouldn't have to extend my contract.
