Android on Nokia N8

N8 isnt that great, other than the camera it's nothing special imo.

Would be interesting though, if it was possible to port Android to N8 then maybe theres hope for other symbian phones out there which are in serious need of a software update.

I'd love to see Android on the i8910... We can dream I guess. :D

The N8 is a true world phone. With most phones in the US, if you switch from AT&T to T-Mobile or vice versa, you lose 3G capability if you decide to keep the same phone. The N8 on the other hand has 3G frequencies for both AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as nearly every other carrier throughout the world.

I'm really looking forward to the day when Nokia gives up on Symbian and moves over to Android.

Nokia losing market share, considering Android?

What will it take to get Android (2.2 or later) ported to the N8? The N8 is a great device, but Symbian ^3 is not worthy of it. I would be willing to put up some $$ to get android running on the N8.

How the once mighty have fallen. Symbian ^3, too little, too late.

I've been a Nokia Symbian phone user for a few years, 6600, N95 and E71. The S60 devices where always great phones, and extremely popular. However I wasn't impressed much at all by Symbian ^3 aka touch-screen Symbian, when I tried the N8 in a store.

IMO the best thing Nokia can do now is quickly adopt Android and dump Symbian ^3. although that maybe too late.

EDIT:-

Then again Nokia might well start doing Windows Phone 7 handsets....

I have an iPhone 4 and I have been trying to find an Android phone with the right specs and the right size for me. Not been able to yet. HTC makes crap cameras, Samsung has either crap battery time or too big phones, while LG just makes too big phones. They don't fit in my pocket.
I did however buy a used N8 and it fits, is fast enough and has a good camera. Unfortunately it runs Symbian which is not that great if you ask me.
If this camera could run either Android or WP7 it would be very interesting indeed.
